New Music On The Way: Kris Wu, BTS, Jason Lee & Ja Mezz


May is turning out to be a good month for music fans.  From hip-hop to kpop and jazz, there's a lot of new sounds to look forward to.

Beginning with Jason Lee. The saxophonist / producer from 8Balltown's producer duo Wekeyz, is dropping his first solo album, which from the preview on Instagram sounds pretty jazzy. It's called "Sax In The City," and will be released on May 17. This comes after the May 7 Wekeyz (with Yunu) release of "Sugar," featuring Chloe DeVita and Ugly Duck.


Former kpop idol, and recent Universal Music Group signee, hip-hop artist Kris Wu, has announced that he's dropping new music on May 18. Two teaser images have been released for it. The most recent on May 14, showing the title "Like That." 

In previous interviews, Kris has said that he's been working on a new album. In a tweet on May 11, Universal Music Indo tweeted that Kris Wu's new song is coming.  The May 18 release, will be the rapper's first release, since signing to Universal, and after gaining recognition in the U.S. for his collaboration with rapper Travis Scott for "Deserve."


Also dropping new music on May 18, is Kpop boy group BTS.  A teaser video for "Fake Love," one of the tracks on the upcoming album, "Love Yourself: Tear" was shared on May 14. The group's company, Big Hit Entertainment, tweeted a tracklist of the album on May 13. And (BTS) rapper RM, later tweeted that track 6, "Love Maze" was his favorite.

On May 6, the visual for track one, "Singularity," the sexy R&B number from group member V, was dropped. Coming Up, two days after the big May 18 release, BTS will be performing at this year's Billboard Music Awards, and then later in the year, will kick off a world tour .



More new music -- Look for South Korean rapper Ja Mezz's first LP on May 21.

Titled "GOØDevil,"  two tracks and a music video have already previously been released. "Alchemy," featuring Dok2 and Mino (with the mv) and "Toruk Makto" featuring Jay Park, Koonta and Skull.

NEW MUSIC DROP: Young Paris featuring Jay Park - "Girls Wanna Party"

Hip-Hop Artist Kris Wu Signs Deal With Universal Music Group

From kpop to global hip-hop. Former EXO member and actor, Kris Wu, has just signed a global record deal with Universal Music Group. According to UMG, under the agreement, future music will be released internationally, excluding Japan and Korea, through a partnership with Interscope Geffen A&M in the U.S., Island Records in the U.K. and Universal Music China, as well as UMG's operations in more than 60 countries. The 27-year-old was born in China, raised in Vancouver (Canada), and got his start in the entertainment world in South Korea, as part of the Korean-Chinese kpop group EXO, and its subgroup EXO-M under S.M. Entertainment. His style is melodic rap, and according to UMG, Kris is the only Chinese artist to reach No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes chart, with the release of the single "Deserve," featuring Travis Scott. NEW MUSIC & MV: Sokodomo & JP - "Snow"

South Korean rapper Sokodomo is back with a new single titled "Snow," with producer JP.  It arrives just weeks after the release of his first EP .  His new track "Snow" dropped with a trippy weird visual on December 24th. It follows the December 6 release of Sokodomo's mini-album - "WWW.III."

Hi-Lite Records' YunB is an "Alcoholic" in new double single & MV release feat. Bassagong

In the latest drop from South Korean label Hi-Lite Records, artist YunB raps about being an "Alcoholic" due in part to addiction, and the influence of those around him. The melodic Yosi produced track featuring Bassagong, is one of two off YunB's double single release under the title song "Alcoholic." The second song is "Rebound Girl," produced by O.T.O. There are English subtitles on the somewhat trippy music video for "Alcoholic." Check it out below.

Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. Worth a Listen: EXO-SC debut Hip-Hop EP - "What a Life"

When you involve production from South Korean hip-hop industry heavy hitters, it's hard to go wrong on the final drop. On July 22, EXO's Chanyeol and Sehun released their debut EP as duo EXO-SC. The two are from nine-member South Korean–Chinese K-pop group - EXO, which is based in Seoul. The sub-unit's-- EXO-SC's new hip-hop album, "What a Life," was produced by hip-hop legend--Dynamic Duo's Gaeko, as well as Devine Channel, Aris Maggiani and AOMG's Gray. The duo also received an assist from Rhythm Power members Hangzoo and Boi B. The cross-over for the two K-pop SM Entertainment boy band members, includes a visual for two of the EP's three title tracks - "Just us 2" featuring Gaeko (produced by GRAY) and "What a Life" produced by Devine-Channel and Aris Maggiani. Tickets for Jay Park's "Serenades & Body Rolls" tour featuring LNGSHOT are going fast

Fans hoping to get a ticket to the second part of Jay Park's "Serenades & Body Rolls" tour featuring his new KPOP group LNGSHOT may be out of luck soon. Tickets are going fast.  Park announced on June 9th he and his group would be hitting the stage in September and October. Tickets for the general public went on sale on Friday, June 12th, with many venues close to selling out seats near the main stage by Sunday, June 14th. Park first announced his "Serenades & Body Rolls" tour in February 2025, hitting cities in Asia. This time around, he and his new boy band will perform in the United States, Europe and South America, his first in the U.S. in seven years and the first in South America. From Freaky to Sweet, R&B Singer Babylon Delivers in New Album - "Hardy"

South Korean singer Babylon does not hold back, in his new album--"Hardy." His 13-song project hit streaming sites on February 4 with sensual R&B beats. And with track titles like "Chandelier," "Cigarettes After Sex," "White Suit" and "Red Lipstick," -- Babylon is explicit with his desires.  But as freaky as the singer gets with some of his lyrics, he's also singing sweet love songs like "Baby Be Mine," featuring KYLE LO, and his song "Alone," featuring Lee Hyori, will send chills up your spine and could move you to tears.  The album has features on most of the tracks-- including an assist from Jay Park on "Like Song," as well as with more than a dozen other artists on the 18-minute "Going In." Song of The Day: ELO "OSAKA" (Feat. ZICO)

by Nefertiti Jenkins The mid-tempo R&B beat drops first, before AOMG's ELO, pierces your heart with his new "GRADATION Vol. 4" single "Osaka."  In the official music video released on May 29, along with the single, the soulful tenor sings "Osaka, oh yeah... the place you and I dreamed of," as he takes us to that city in Japan, with cameras, snapping shots (including pictures of the Ferris Wheel seen on the "Gradation" album cover). Powerfully crooning throughout the video, ELO goes falsetto a third of the way in, making listeners swoon and later Zico, from Block B, comes in, with a smooth rap assist. Song of the Day: Jay Park - "Whenever"

Jay Park dropped his R&B single "Whenever" one year ago, on July 23, 2025.  Crooning "call me whenever" in an English and Japanese version.  The Japanese version includes a passionate live clip on YouTube from part one of his Serenades & Body Rolls tour last year in Japan. Since then, Park has announced part two for 2026 , which includes his More Vision South Korean boy band LNGSHOT.  This second leg of the tour kicks off on September 3 in São Paulo, Brazil with stops in Mexico, North America and Europe. No word if he'll perform this song, but for now, Jay Park's "Whenever" is today's Song of the Day.
