New Music On The Way: Kris Wu, BTS, Jason Lee & Ja Mezz


May is turning out to be a good month for music fans.  From hip-hop to kpop and jazz, there's a lot of new sounds to look forward to.

Beginning with Jason Lee. The saxophonist / producer from 8Balltown's producer duo Wekeyz, is dropping his first solo album, which from the preview on Instagram sounds pretty jazzy. It's called "Sax In The City," and will be released on May 17. This comes after the May 7 Wekeyz (with Yunu) release of "Sugar," featuring Chloe DeVita and Ugly Duck.


Former kpop idol, and recent Universal Music Group signee, hip-hop artist Kris Wu, has announced that he's dropping new music on May 18. Two teaser images have been released for it. The most recent on May 14, showing the title "Like That." 

In previous interviews, Kris has said that he's been working on a new album. In a tweet on May 11, Universal Music Indo tweeted that Kris Wu's new song is coming.  The May 18 release, will be the rapper's first release, since signing to Universal, and after gaining recognition in the U.S. for his collaboration with rapper Travis Scott for "Deserve."


Also dropping new music on May 18, is Kpop boy group BTS.  A teaser video for "Fake Love," one of the tracks on the upcoming album, "Love Yourself: Tear" was shared on May 14. The group's company, Big Hit Entertainment, tweeted a tracklist of the album on May 13. And (BTS) rapper RM, later tweeted that track 6, "Love Maze" was his favorite.

On May 6, the visual for track one, "Singularity," the sexy R&B number from group member V, was dropped. Coming Up, two days after the big May 18 release, BTS will be performing at this year's Billboard Music Awards, and then later in the year, will kick off a world tour .



More new music -- Look for South Korean rapper Ja Mezz's first LP on May 21.

Titled "GOØDevil,"  two tracks and a music video have already previously been released. "Alchemy," featuring Dok2 and Mino (with the mv) and "Toruk Makto" featuring Jay Park, Koonta and Skull.

New Music: A.CHAL - "Numb The Pain"

Peruvian-American singer A.CHAL (Alejandro Chal Salazar) is working through his emotions in his new single "Numb The Pain". The artist dropped his new song and the official music video for it on October 13.  On social media A.CHAL says the visual was shot in Huanchaco, Trujillo, Peru. He says as a child he remembers living there on the sand in a small hut. The singer says the song itself was recorded in Paris. NEW NAME FOR BTS MEMBER (formerly Rap Monster)

The leader of the super popular kpop group BTS, from South Korea, has officially changed his name. Kim Nam-joon previously known as Rap Monster, has changed his stage name to RM. The announcement was published on the BTS official fan cafe on November 13.  RM wrote on it, that although he's been called Rap Monster for the past five years, he felt the need to change it, because that title was   getting more and more distant from the music done for the past 5 years.                                                                    -RM (via allkpop)    Back on September 19, 2017, Rap Monster announced on his Beats1Noisey Interview that he would be changing his name to RM. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Fans still have questions about ECÂF after the release of Ruel's new single & MV - "Face To Face"

Song of The Day: Kiana Ledé - "Take It All"

Showing her vocal range as an R&B artist, singer Kiana Ledé released "Take It All" on July 13, as one of seven songs on her new EP "Selfless." "Take It All" stands out on the mini album. The mostly acoustic track connects on an emotional level of maturity, which makes it today's Song of The Day. The 21-year-old artist has been active since she was a child, after winning a  Kidz Bop's Kidz Star USA talent competition in 2011. South Korean rapper Coogie drops new single as contract with AOMG expires

South Korean artist Coogie dropped his new single "1,2,3,4,5" on January 23, 2025--the same day record label AOMG announced its exclusive contract with the rapper had come to an end. Coogie signed with AOMG in 2022.  He was previously signed under hip-hop label ATMseoul. He became known for his sing-song melodic rap style after participating in the South Korean rap competition series Show Me The Money 777 in 2018.  The translation to AOMG's post on X reads... Representing KHip-Hop at The NBA Buzzer Beat Festival in Seoul

Korean Hip-Hop or khip-hop, is hot right now. There are a lot of talented artists making some good music in South Korea at the moment. This is not kpop. This is music, from artists whose albums could play on urban radio, if they were promoting here in the United States. On July 8, 2017, INLet'sGo! got a chance to check out some of those who are making moves, and making people move. Hip-hop and R&B singers, rappers, and dancers hit two main stages at the NBA Buzzer Beat Festival at KBS Arena in Seoul, South Korea. Unfortunately, INLet'sGo! was not able to record all of the performances, but here's highlights from stage one, which includes Punchnello, OffOnOff, DPR Live, Dean, Bumzu, Horim, Niihwa, Suran, Heize and Jay Park.

Jay Park to drop new R&B album in October

Singer Jay Park has announced on social media his plans to release a new R&B album next month. The Seattle to Seoul artist says the project will be out on October 8th, his first in eight years. His previous R&B album "Everything You Wanted" dropped on October 20, 2016. On his recent social media post, Park also joked about deleting his Instagram Account and said there will be a tour in 2025. He deleted his previous IG account in 2022.
