JULY

-GSoul: The South Korean R&B singer announced his North American Tour last month, following the conclusion of his European tour. With eleven scheduled stops, it will kick off July 7 in Vancouver and end July 24 in Seattle. Ticket information is at Kohai.com.

-Lollapalooza: The festival takes place in the historic Grant Park in Chicago July 28-31. This year, J-Hope, member of Kpop group BTS, will headline with a closing performance on the main stage on Sunday, July 31st. His performance will make history, cementing him as the first South Korean artist to ever headline a main stage at a major U.S. music festival. Ticket information at: lollapalooza.com.

-Kehlani: The American R&B singer begins her "Blue Water Road Trip" Tour on July 30 in Raleigh, NC. You can find a link to buy tickets on her website: Kehlani.com.

AUGUST

-Alicia Keys: The R&B singer kicks off the American leg of her World Tour on August 2nd in Charlotte, NC. You can find ticket information on her website by clicking here.

-Kultureland Fest: Happening AUG. 6-7. Kultureland is an Afro-fusion, Latin, Dancehall, and R&B music festival located in Toronto, Canada. Headliners this year are Burna Boy and Jhené Aiko. Get tickets at www.kultureland.ca.

-Giveon: The R&B singer kicks off the American leg of his 2022 tour on August 16 in Philadelphia, PA. You can find a link to show dates on his website www.giveonofficial.com. The tour will follow the release of his album- "Give or Take," hitting streaming sites on June 24th.

-Head In The Clouds Festival: More than a dozen artists are expected to hit the stage August 20 & 21 in Pasadena, CA during the two-day 88rising event. The lineup includes Jay Park, Shotta Spence, Rich Brian and Jackson Wang. You can buy passes at LA.HITCFESTIVAL.COM.

SEPTEMBER

-MADE IN AMERICA: The JAY-Z curated festival returns Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 3-4, on Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, PA. The full festival lineup includes headliners Bad Bunny and Tyler, The Creator, along with performances from Lil Uzi Vert, Jazmine Sullivan, Burna Boy, Snoh Aalegra, Kodak Black, Pusha T, Lil Tjay and more. -Jack Harlow: The Louisville, KY rapper kicks off his “Come Home The Kids Miss You" Tour on September 6th in Nashville, TN with support from hip-hop duo, City Girls. Ticket information is at: jackharlow.us.tour.

-DPR Regime Tour: The Dream Perfect Regime collective kicks off their world tour on September 8 in Charlotte, NC with sold out shows. Ticket information is available at regimetour.com.

AOMG Welcomes Sogumm to the Label after her "Signhere" win on MBN

South Korean label AOMG (founded by Jay Park), now has two female artists. AOMG welcomed Sogumm to the team on October 31, after the final episode of Signhere on MBN. The singer took home first place, on the competition show. Her total scores for her performance beating out Meloh, Maddox and MBA. Sogumm joins Hoody, and a crew of popular male artists, as the second woman signed to AOMG. Hoody became the first female artist to sign to the hip-hop and R&B record label back in 2015. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). This year was different: 2023 Lexington, KY Roots & Heritage Festival Parade, Band Performances & Fashion Show

Showcasing Kentucky's African American culture and traditions, the 2023 Lexington, KY Roots & Heritage Festival kicked off Friday night, September 8, with live performances on the main stage on Elm Tree Lane. It continued Saturday morning with the annual parade and band performances. It included Simmons College (an HBCU) and Central High School marching bands from Louisville. The "Battle of the Bands" after the parade was moved from the corner of Fourth street and Elm Tree Lane to Third Street and Elm Tree Lane, near the historic Lyric Theatre. New this year, a fashion show outside the theater. The show included pieces from up-and-coming local designers. The festival wrapped on Sunday, September 10. Thousands of people attended the weekend event.

NEW MUSIC & MV: William Singe - "Love You Like Me"

Australian singer William Singe is bringing the heat and heartbreak in a new single and visual titled-- "Love You Like Me." The alt-R&B track hit streaming sites on September 6. Simon Dominic Steps Down as co-CEO of AOMG

Rapper Simon Dominic has resigned as co-CEO of AOMG, a South Korean hip-hop label he ran with founder Jay Park. Fans first became aware of the move, when Simon D released a surprise live performance video of a new track on July 25, titled "Me No Jay Park." The video of him on the mic, on AOMG's YouTube channel, contains English subtitles with the lyrics that say..."I'm writing a resignation letter and this song is it," and "I'mma release the stocks to AOMG first up," "(DJ) Pumkin go meet up with CJ so there's no problems," "But you gotta step up as CEO and pull me down as an employee." According to online magazine Soompi, after the release of the video, AOMG released an official statement confirming Simon Dominic's resignation, but it also says the rapper is not leaving the label. New Music & MV: FANXY CHILD - "Y" featuring Zico, Crush, Dean, Penomeco, Millic & Staytuned

Perhaps one of the best known hip-hop and R&B crews in South Korea, members of FANXY CHILD have teamed up once again to drop a new single and visual titled "Y." The track hit streaming sites on August 9th featuring ZICO, CRUSH, DEAN, PENOMECO and producers MILLIC and STAYTUNED. Previously we've seen them collaborate on such hits and music videos like Millic's "Paradise" and Zico's "Fanxy Child" and "Bermuda Triangle." FANXY CHILD will hold their first concert as a crew on August 10 and 11. Check out their new music below.

Jackson Wang Inspired by "Bruce Lee" on New Collab with Al Rocco

Jackson Wang is on a World Tour right now with his kpop idol group GOT7, but the rapper still found time to collaborate with fellow Chinese rapper Al Rocco , on a track titled "Bruce Lee." The single dropped on July 14, and begins with an audio recording of the martial arts legend, Bruce Lee, as an intro to the song. Produced by Fader One, according to the description released for it, the song "expresses the strength of the Chinese people through the power of music and kung fu." Lyrics with Wang include... Pull a stunt like Bruce Lee. Spit venom on the verse don’t try me. Everyday stay low key. Throw a jab so fast won’t see me. New Music: "BLOO IN WONDERLAND" (feat. niahn & nafla) & "I'm the one" MV

Rapper BLOO from MKIT RAIN‏, has returned with his second mini album. "BLOO IN WONDERLAND" (featuring niahn and labelmate nafla) dropped on November 19, with an official music video for its BIG BANANA produced track "I'm the one." In the visual, BLOO (with a melodic flat electric delivery), has taken on the character of a man in an intimate relationship with a beautiful woman. The song, as well as other tracks on the EP, include partial lyrics in English. The mini-album also includes the pre-released single "Take me" (feat. nafla). The label he's with, MKIT RAIN, is a LA based hip-hop label, with artists who create South Korean content. BLOO, released his first EP, "Downtown Baby," back in 2017.
