CONCERTS, TOURS & FESTIVALS (UPDATED)

JULY

-GSoul: The South Korean R&B singer announced his North American Tour last month, following the conclusion of his European tour. With eleven scheduled stops, it will kick off July 7 in Vancouver and end July 24 in Seattle. Ticket information is at Kohai.com.

-Lollapalooza: The festival takes place in the historic Grant Park in Chicago July 28-31. This year, J-Hope, member of Kpop group BTS, will headline with a closing performance on the main stage on Sunday, July 31st. His performance will make history, cementing him as the first South Korean artist to ever headline a main stage at a major U.S. music festival. Ticket information at: lollapalooza.com.

-Kehlani: The American R&B singer begins her "Blue Water Road Trip" Tour on July 30 in Raleigh, NC. You can find a link to buy tickets on her website: Kehlani.com.

AUGUST

-Alicia Keys: The R&B singer kicks off the American leg of her World Tour on August 2nd in Charlotte, NC. You can find ticket information on her website by clicking here.

-Kultureland Fest: Happening AUG. 6-7. Kultureland is an Afro-fusion, Latin, Dancehall, and R&B music festival located in Toronto, Canada. Headliners this year are Burna Boy and Jhené Aiko. Get tickets at www.kultureland.ca.

-Giveon: The R&B singer kicks off the American leg of his 2022 tour on August 16 in Philadelphia, PA. You can find a link to show dates on his website www.giveonofficial.com. The tour will follow the release of his album- "Give or Take," hitting streaming sites on June 24th.

-Head In The Clouds Festival: More than a dozen artists are expected to hit the stage August 20 & 21 in Pasadena, CA during the two-day 88rising event. The lineup includes Jay Park, Shotta Spence, Rich Brian and Jackson Wang. You can buy passes at LA.HITCFESTIVAL.COM.

SEPTEMBER

-MADE IN AMERICA: The JAY-Z curated festival returns Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 3-4, on Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, PA. The full festival lineup includes headliners Bad Bunny and Tyler, The Creator, along with performances from Lil Uzi Vert, Jazmine Sullivan, Burna Boy, Snoh Aalegra, Kodak Black, Pusha T, Lil Tjay and more. -Jack Harlow: The Louisville, KY rapper kicks off his “Come Home The Kids Miss You" Tour on September 6th in Nashville, TN with support from hip-hop duo, City Girls. Ticket information is at: jackharlow.us.tour.

-DPR Regime Tour: The Dream Perfect Regime collective kicks off their world tour on September 8 in Charlotte, NC with sold out shows. Ticket information is available at regimetour.com.

-Mary J. Blige: The legendary Queen of Hip-Hop Soul hits the road for her Good Morning Gorgeous Tour beginning September 17 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The tour features singers Ella Mai and Queen Naija. You can find ticket information at: www.maryjblige.com.

New Music & MV: FANXY CHILD - "Y" featuring Zico, Crush, Dean, Penomeco, Millic & Staytuned

Perhaps one of the best known hip-hop and R&B crews in South Korea, members of FANXY CHILD have teamed up once again to drop a new single and visual titled "Y." The track hit streaming sites on August 9th featuring ZICO, CRUSH, DEAN, PENOMECO and producers MILLIC and STAYTUNED. Previously we've seen them collaborate on such hits and music videos like Millic's "Paradise" and Zico's "Fanxy Child" and "Bermuda Triangle." NEW MUSIC & MV: JMIN and Lo-g - "Don't Trip"

JMIN is back with a new banger. This time, the young rapper has linked up with Lo-g for their track "Don't Trip." The Bruno produced single hit streaming sites on August 29, with an official music video on YouTube, directed and edited by Sandwich. Check it out below.

YUGYEOM Shows Off his Dance Moves after Signing to Jay Park's label AOMG

It's official, GOT7's Kim Yugyeom is the latest artist to sign to Jay Park's first label AOMG. The announcement was made at midnight, KST, on February 19. As the newest member of the hip-hop and R&B label, YUGYEOM joins veteran singers, rappers and producers such as Loco, Gray, Simon Dominic, Hoody and Code Kunst, as well as newer artists Woo Won-jae, Sogumm, Punchnello, DeVita and Lee Hi. Jay Park founded AOMG in 2013. YUGYEOM's move to AOMG follows his departure from JYP Entertainment. He and his fellow GOT7 boy band members, who debuted in 2014, left JYP in January, after their contract with the entertainment company expired. YUGYEOM is now the second artist to leave JYP to work under Jay Park. Singer G.Soul left the company in 2017 to sign with Park's second label H1GHR MUSIC. Representing That Caribbean Vibe: Tainy - "LENTO" feat. Sean Paul, Mozart La Para & Cazzu

Puerto Rican producer Tainy has rounded up Jamaican heavy-hitter Sean Paul and newer stars Mozart La Para from the Dominican Republic, and Cazzu from Argentina, for a pulsating dembow/dancehall jam titled "LENTO," which hit music streaming sites, along with a music video on January 31. The track is off Tainy's forthcoming album - "The Kids That Grew Up on Reggaeton." Check out the visual for the new single above.

Rapper Jessi and Jay Park "Drip" with Swag in New Music & MV

Rapper Jessi is back with another single under P NATION (the South Korean record label founded by Psy). This time around, Jessi has global star Jay Park on the track and visual. Jessi released their collaboration - "Drip" on November 1st, and straight out the gate, she comes out swinging with swag, and singing, that she's not "going anywhere." Park joins her midway in-- getting his brag on-- with a smooth flow about his "legacy." Check out the new music and video below.

New Music: South Korean R&B singer MELOH returns with Self-titled EP

Fans have been watching for South Korean singer MELOH ever since he hit the stage for AOMG's Signhere audition TV show program in 2019 on MBN. While he didn't finish first, he did make it to the finals with his smooth vocals. Fast forward to 2021, and MELOH is back with his first EP, titled "MELOH," and signed to the new hip-hop label-- Daytona Entertainment, founded by The Quiett and Yumdda. MELOH's new self-titled R&B mini-album hit streaming sites on January 2. Check it out below.

Jay Park Dropping Remix of "Birthday"

The original was already a nice feel good song, but now Jay Park is teasing on his Instagram Story, a remix of the track "Birthday." "Birthday" aired originally on SMTM6, episode 3 with Ja Mezz, Jay Park and Dok2 in August, 2017. On his Instagram Story on Nov. 28, Park writes that the remix is coming soon. Meanwhile Jay Park, as fans know, the rapper/singer/model, goes non-stop from project to project, and recently was featured in "Cosmopolitan Korea's COSMO Men." Basic Training first for AOMG rapper Loco after enlisting in the South Korean military and dropping a new "Hello" EP & MV

In fact, the entire mini-album seems to offer messages to decipher while he's away as a conscripted policeman. Starting with the EP title and the title of its tracks-- "Nothing," "It's Been a While," featuring Zion.T, "Tangled Up," featuring pH-1, "Some Beatmaker," featuring yeesang & Woo, "Too Fast ," featuring Paloalto and "How." Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons).
