New Music: JUNNY - "Vivid, Pt. 1" & "For The Weekend" MV (feat. Paloalto)

Korean-Canadian singer JUNNY from South Korea's collective Marilyn Monderland is back from Vancouver with the first half of his first full album titled "Vivid, Pt. 1."  Produced by Holymoley!, the project dropped on March 31 as an EP mix of alt-R&B and melodic trap. JUNNY captioned about the journey of his project on Instagram, saying in part... Taking my first steps in writing each track in Vancouver, then listening to the final mastered tracks in Seoul, really made me realize how lucky I am to live my dreams. Sam Kim joins Ruel for a Live Performance of "Not Thinkin' Bout You"

16-year-old Australian singer  Ruel took time out from his busy touring schedule recently to hit the small stage with Korean-American singer Sam Kim . Ruel was in South Korea for a March 21st concert. The two artists crooned out Ruel's song "Not Thinkin' Bout You," in a soulful dingo music LIVE performance. "Not Thinkin' Bout You" is off the teen's 2018 debut EP "Ready." Sam Kim also joined Ruel on the big stage during his actual "Ready" concert in Seoul.

88rising's 'Head In The Clouds' Festival returns to Los Angeles in August

Early bird tickets have sold out for the next 88rising Head In The Clouds Festival . The event will return to Los Angeles on August 17th at LA State Historic Park. Early bird tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. (PT) on March 28th and sold out within hours. General Admission and VIP tickets are still available, according to 88rising. Russ returns with New Single & MV - "AINT GOIN BACK"

Atlanta-bred artist Russ has returned with a visual for his new self-produced track. The rapper dropped the official music video for his "AINT GOIN BACK" on March 26. The Edgar Esteves directed video puts Russ in a mansion, spitting out lyrics; saying he's not going back to "when it was no Russ, just Russell." According to his online bio, Russ is of Sicilian descent and was born in 1992 as Russell Vital in New Jersey. He lived in North Carolina and Kentucky, before moving to Georgia. His last full length studio project dropped last year in September, titled "ZOO." It followed "There's Really A Wolf," a project mix of trap and R&B. Check out his new music video below.

Filipino rapper Shanti Dope drops new single and MV - "Amatz"

He's delivering the latest jam from the Philippines. 17-year-old Shanti Dope released a new retro-styled video, for his latest single "Amatz" on March 25. Known for his song "Nadarang," the young Filipino rapper delivers with a strong hard-hitting flow with traditional instruments used on a melodic beat. Check out his new music and visual below. Now Listening to the Soulful Sounds of R&B singer THAMA - his new EP "Pre" & 'Sing It' MV

The first track off THAMA's first EP "Pre" will remind you of the vibe from BET's Midnight Love . The song "Down For U" (feat. Gaeko) is a slow jam with sexy and seductive mid-tempo rhythm. The second and title track "Sing It," showcases the power of THAMA's soulful vocals with a walk down memory lane in an official music video. The singer's new "Pre" EP is an R&B must listen. The mini-album is a 'Chord Share' project between California's Devine Channel and South Korea's Amoeba Culture. It dropped on March 20. Check it out below.

Has Jay Park come full circle with upcoming AOMG Audition Program "Sign Here" on MBN?

He has shared his story hundreds of times. CEO Jay Park got his start in the music industry after auditioning in Seattle as a teen to join JYP, one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea. According to online sources, after being accepted, Park trained in South Korea as part of a kpop group known as One Day. Part of the group's training was broadcast as a reality survival documentary show on MNET called Hot Blood . After the show, One Day was split into two separate groups-- 2AM and 2PM. Via fan votes, Park became the leader of 2PM. 2PM debuted with the song "10 Out of 10" in 2008. But by 2010, Park was officially out of the group, and back home in Seattle. Fast forward to today, and Jay Park is signed to Roc Nation and has founded his own entertainment companies; hip-hop labels AOMG and H1GHR MUSIC, and he is now currently launching an AOMG audition program called "Sign Here" on MBN. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). There's no denying it. MKIT RAIN's rapper Owen Ovadoz has got skills. He's a lyricist and a gifted storyteller. The latest example of that, is from his new album "P.O.E.M.Ⅱ," which hit music streaming sites on March 19. It's a mixtape of self-reflection and tributes to old school, while keeping it real with jazzy melodic flow in English and Korean. It's one of the best albums released so far in 2019. "P.O.E.M.Ⅱ" continues Ovadoz's 2016 album "P.O.E.M." which was followed by "Problematic" in 2017 and "changes" in 2018. Snacky Chan goes back to his roots in new EP - "김재윤 (Kim Jae Yoon)"

Mixing today's hip-hop flow with a flavor from the 80s, Dynasty Muzik's Korean-American CEO Snacky Chan released his latest EP on music streaming sites on March 18. The seven-track mini-album is titled "김재윤 (Kim Jae Yoon)." According to the artist; 김재윤 is Snacky Chan's original Korean name given to him by his grandmother. He says he chose it as the title, to honor his South Korean roots, as well as the woman who named him. Veteran rappers Dok2, The Quiett and Boi.B feature on the EP, as well as Deepflow, QM, Chillin Homie, Siggie Feb, YoungWon and A-Chess. Vocalists Rheehab, oceanfromtheblue, and Chane also contributed to the project. Check out the preview below.

Cherry Coke tries to "Wash" away the pain in new animated MV release

The water is overflowing from a past love, for South Korean R&B singer Cherry Coke-- in a new animated video for her single - "Wash." The artist dropped the visual on March 16. The track hit streaming sites in January. It follows her 2018 EP "Blind."

Performance of the Day: Normani's mesmerizing moves on The Tonight Show for "Waves" with 6LACK

Singer Normani delivered an intoxicating performance recently with her dancers and rapper 6LACK on  The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon . The former Fifth Harmony member hit The Tonight Show stage surrounded by a cloud of smoke and dim blue lighting on March 13 to promote her latest single "Waves." The track was released back in November and the  official music video  hit YouTube in February.

Ted Park drops new anthem for anyone who needs a little uplifting - New single & MV - "Ugly"

H1GHR MUSIC hip-hop artist Ted Park has not had it easy, and he's sharing some of his pain and struggles in a new single and lyric music video - "Ugly." On it he sings... "some of the things I've been through been so ugly." He also follows with positive advice: "Don't get in your feelings, go get to the money." Park's message in this song, can be an anthem for anyone questioning life, or fighting to survive bullying. I'm alive alive for you. I want to show you that dreams can come true. After 2016's duet with Usher, Malaysian soul-singer Yuna returns with "No Different" collab on Epik High's new project "Sleepless in __________"

On March 11, South Korean trio Epik High, dropped their new album "Sleepless in __________." The group consists of Tablo, Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz. Seven tracks on the EP-- with a handful of notable features and producers. The fifth track, "No Different," features Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna. It's produced by AOMG's Code Kunst. R&B fans might remember Yuna from her 2016 single and MV "Crush," with American singer Usher. (The song was off her 3rd U.S. album "Chapters"). The music video for it on YouTube has more than 65-million views, and features the two, as Yuna's velvety vocals compliment Usher's in a beautiful duet. On Epik High's English track "No Different" with Yuna and rapper Tablo, the song, of a broken relationship, takes you to a soulful depth of R&B and melodic hip-hop. Hi-Lite Records' YunB is an "Alcoholic" in new double single & MV release feat. Bassagong

In the latest drop from South Korean label Hi-Lite Records, artist YunB raps about being an "Alcoholic" due in part to addiction, and the influence of those around him. The melodic Yosi produced track featuring Bassagong, is one of two off YunB's double single release under the title song "Alcoholic." The second song is "Rebound Girl," produced by O.T.O. H1GHR MUSIC's Mokyo shares new "Daddy" single & MV for "people suffering from domestic violence"

A dark and somber look into the world of H1GHR MUSIC singer Mokyo. The artist dropped the visual for his new song "Daddy" on March 8th on YouTube. On social media he writes that the single is for "people suffering from domestic violence." In the chilling cinematic video for "Daddy," Mokyo (also known as producer Thurxday) wanders from a cemetery to the streets and vast lands and waters with a hole in his body. The finale of it includes a heart-stopping emotional end, which could leave you in tears. The new music video follows the March 2nd debut release of Mokyo as a singer-songwriter for H1GHR MUSIC, which included the drop of "Something," a track and MV focused on the interaction between mother and son.

Rapper Dok2 talks about his personal life and South Korean hip-hop - in English ("Kill Bill") interview with Snacky Chan for "Undergod"

On the March 7th episode of ' Target: Billboard - Kill Bill,' legendary rapper Dok2 brought a number of notable Korean (and Korean-American) rappers out on stage with him to perform his latest song. The show ' Kill Bill'  is an MBC hip-hop survival program which aims to put a South Korean hip-hop artist on the Billboard charts with a collaboration with DJ Khaled. Artists who hit the stage with Dok2 during this episode were Snacky Chan, Changmo, Double K, Deepflow, Los, Young B, Pyunny, Keem Hyo-Eun, Junoflo and Nucksal. After the show, Dok2 and Snacky Chan went backstage to record an interview for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." During their one on one, Dok2 compares hip-hop styles of trap and boom bap.
