On the eve of the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby, Louisville native and rapper, 24-year-old Jack Harlow dropped his new album- "Come Home the Kids Miss You." The project hit streaming sites on May 6th, one day before the May 7th Derby at the Churchill Downs horse-racetrack in Louisville.  Harlow's album includes the Drake-assisted song "Churchill Downs," in which the two rappers share lyrics of introspection before Drake wraps up the more than five minute track with... "Kentucky derby races, my presence in the spot is so abrasive. Box at the Churchill Downs, that's motivation, yeah. And shorty like, "You know that boy Jack is goin' places."    The lyrics in Drake's verse were a prelude to what was to come. by Nefertiti Jenkins So many people from around the world have danced to Drake's Scorpion "In My Feelings" track, thanks to comedian Shiggy, and the viral challenge he created, that Drake almost didn't need an official music video for the song. But he made one anyway. The MV dropped late on August 2nd, and with more than 8 million views, 12 hours later, it is currently the number one trending video on YouTube. Directed by Karena Evans in a New Orleans setting, the cameos in it are epic. At the beginning of the video we see Drake outside a New Orleans home, trying to sweet talk his Keke, played by TV personality and actress La La Anthony, but the two are interrupted by Keke's mother, played Cosby Show legend Phylicia Rashad. It then goes on to feature scenes of dancers and Shiggy in the Big Easy, until Drake wakes from his "dream" and gets annoyed by a production assistant, also played by Shiggy. Before artist and battle rapper Dumbfoundead released his hot "We Might Die" album, or dropped the popular music videos for the tracks 'SAFE' and 'Harambe,' and the catchy but freaky visual for 'Water,' Dumbfoundead was sitting down with producer and director Salima Koroma and co-producer Jaeki Cho for a documentary with three of his friends called "Bad Rap." It premiered last year at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, but was just recently uploaded on Netflix. The documentary walks us through the journey he and fellow Asian-American artists Awkwafina, Lyricks and Rekstizzy were on, to break into the larger American hip-hop scene, as they navigated through the waters of culture appropriation (from the African-American community) and originality.
