Hi-Lite Records founder Paloalto steps down as CEO and Drops New Single - “Let the Story Begin”

Just weeks after celebrating the ten year anniversary of the record label he founded, rapper Paloalto announced on August 30, that he was resigning from his position of CEO at Hi-Lite Records. The Korean hip-hop artist says he will be staying on at the company to focus on his music.  On the same day as the announcement that he was stepping down, Paloalto also dropped a new single titled “Let the Story Begin,” produced by Yosi. YEAR OF THE OX Wants Justice for Black and Asian-American Communities in New Single - "Captain America"

YEAR OF THE OX rappers JL and Lyricks focus on the plight of the Black community and the attacks on Asian-Americans in their new single "Captain America." The track dropped with a visual on August 28, with wordplay about crime, racial injustice, inequalities, police brutality, deadly shootings, targeted assaults and the coronavirus pandemic. At the end of their music video, the hip-hop duo reminds fans to "stay vigilant." Check it out below.  "I see too many lies. Too much cap in America. I want to shield from it all. It's "Now or Never" for Coi Leray with New EP & MV for the track "Do Better"

Singer Coi Leray delivers a mixed bag of hip-hop, smooth melodies and island beats in her new EP "Now or Never." The project includes features from Gunna, Sevyn Streeter, Kiana Ledé and Fetty Wap. The mini-album dropped on August 14 with an official music video for her inspirational song "Do Better," which has her rapping about reaching for more in life, during a game of flag football. Phora is Asking for "Promises" in New Single & MV

California artist Phora, is asking for promises, as he sings and raps over sweet melodies, about spending time with his lady in his new single.  The track "Promises," and the visual for it, hit streaming sites on August 21. According to Phora, the song is the second single off his upcoming album. It follows the release of his emotional track "Fake Smiles 2," on July 24.

KHEA Drops Hot New Single - "Ayer Me LLamó Mi Ex" ft. Lenny Santos

Argentine trap rapper KHEA gets a call from his ex-flame for a hook up in his new single "Ayer Me LLamó Mi Ex," featuring beats from bachata producer Lenny Santos. The track hit streaming sites on August 20, with the official music video on YouTube. The single follows the May release of his mixtape "Trapicheo." Check out his new music below.

South Korean Hip-Hop label Hi-Lite Records Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Compilation Album “Legacy”

It's been ten years since South Korean rapper Paloalto founded hip-hop label Hi-Lite Records. During the decade of its rise, the label signed a number of talented popular rappers who have come and gone. Former artists include Keith Ape, B-Free, Okasian, Evo, GLV and G2.  Current artists with Hi-Lite include Reddy, YunB, Swervy, Pinodyne (Huckleberry P & Soul Fish) and others. In 2015, a partnership with entertainment company CJ E&M was announced to help with global marketing.  Now, to celebrate ten years of going strong, the label has released its tenth anniversary compilation album titled “Legacy.” The project dropped on streaming sites on August 16, with an official music video for the pop-rock track "Kid Rock," featuring Paloalto, jerd, Reddy and Soovi.   The song is a departure from what fans are used to, and it's even a departure from most of the other songs on the new album. Song of the Week: Nafla - "115" feat. pH-1

Not taking themselves too seriously, MKIT RAIN's Nafla and H1GHR MUSIC's pH-1, team up for a fun melodic track, with a catchy beat titled "115." The PEEJAY produced single, with lyrics mostly in Korean, hit streaming sites on August 13. The song's theme of escapism vibes well with today's new reality. Jay Park Rocks Out With SURL On "Don't Say No"

Calling it an " unexpected collab ," entertainment mogul Jay Park takes the mic to rock out with South Korean rock band SURL, for the band's new single "Don't Say No."  The track includes a visual on YouTube (with subtitles) and it hit streaming sites on August 5, accompanied by a second song titled "Silence."   SURL debuted two years ago, in July 2018, and has taken home the first prize of the Shinhan Card Rookie Award. On their song "Don't Say No," we hear veteran artist Jay Park's smooth vocals, before a transition to a hip-hop rock jam session, with Park rapping, and a mesmerizing electric guitar riff. CAZZU and Bizarrap Link Up For "BZRP Music Sessions #32"

Just about every project Argentine rapper and singer CAZZU hops on, turns out to be a hit. Her latest collaboration is no exception. The trap star joins producer Bizarrap for his "BZRP Music Sessions #32." The song and the visual for it, hit streaming sites on August 5. The release follows CAZZU's three-track EP "Bonus Trap," which rolled out in April.
