Hip-Hop Artist Kris Wu Signs Deal With Universal Music Group

From kpop to global hip-hop. Former EXO member and actor, Kris Wu, has just signed a global record deal with Universal Music Group. According to UMG, under the agreement, future music will be released internationally, excluding Japan and Korea, through a partnership with Interscope Geffen A&M in the U.S., Island Records in the U.K. and Universal Music China, as well as UMG's operations in more than 60 countries.


The 27-year-old was born in China, raised in Vancouver (Canada), and got his start in the entertainment world in South Korea, as part of the Korean-Chinese kpop group EXO, and its subgroup EXO-M under S.M. Entertainment.

His style is melodic rap, and according to UMG, Kris is the only Chinese artist to reach No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes chart, with the release of the single "Deserve," featuring Travis Scott.

As an actor, Kris Wu has starred in a number of films, including "XxX: Return of Xander Cage" with Vin Diesel. He's also a global brand ambassador for Burberry, the first non-British person chosen to represent the luxury brand. And is also brand ambassadors for McDonald's and BEATS.

In regards to the signing, according to UMG, Kris Wu said,"It's my pleasure to be part of this collaboration with Universal Music Group. I'm enjoying the time to share creative and vision of my music. As a singer-songwriter and producer, the album I'm working on now is elaborately produced and rounded by me and I will keep working to deliver more beautiful works to all my audiences around the world."

Sheaden Gabriel, from California, has been a YouTube sensation for years and he's only 13-years-old. Bruno Mars shares Behind the Scenes clip from the Making of "24K Magic"

Bruno Mars has shared a never before seen clip of the making of "24K Magic," the title track and lead single from his third studio album (of the same name). On June 27, the singer uploaded video on Twitter and Instagram, and wrote that he found it in his cell phone.  The video shows producer Brody Brown and Mars trying to figure out the groove for "24k Magic" in 2015. According to Bruno Mars, they tried nearly 100 different patterns and pockets to finally land what we hear today (a Zapp & Roger inspired track). Rich Brian Spotlights Indonesian Culture in new "Kids" visual off Forthcoming Album

19-year-old Indonesian rapper Rich Brian dropped the official music video for his track "Kids" on July 19-- showing the scenes, people and culture of his hometown of Jakarta, Indonesia. The single is a pre-release off his upcoming album - "The Sailor," which is due out on July 26. He dropped the track and visual "Yellow" off it, on June 26. In "Kids," Brian spits bars about his rise in Hip-Hop, and his impact on the next generation. I'm makin' songs that'll probably outlive us for generations. Avatar Darko Officially Signs With H1GHR MUSIC

Seattle Rapper Avatar Darko, has officially signed with hip-hop label H1GHR MUSIC. The CEOs, Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone, posted the official video on June 5th, to social media of Avatar signing the contract, and receiving his H1GHR MUSIC gold chain.  The new signee is fresh off a U.S. tour with his H1GHR MUSIC labelmates (which wrapped on May 8th in Seattle). He also hit the stage with them back in March, for South by Southwest. BTS To Perform at Billboard Music Awards

Back on American television. Kpop group BTS announced on April 24, that it will be performing at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. The show is May 20th on NBC. The group has been nominated for the Top Social Artist award. Last year BTS won the title, and attended the show. This year, according to Billboard, the members will perform with a world television premiere of a new single. Two days before, according to BTS, the members will release their new full album "Love Yourself: Tear" on May 18. Last year in November, BTS debuted on American television for a performance at the American Music Awards. The seven-member boy group also was on the "The Ellen Show," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and "The Late Late Show with James Corden." BamBam from GOT7 delivers a trap hook and flow, with Thai rapper F.HERO (ฟักกลิ้ง ฮีโร่) on the new KILO KEYS produced track - "Do You." The song is off F.HERO's new 32-track album - "INTO THE NEW ERA." The visual for "Do You" dropped on October 16, with a suave BamBam dressed in black. Hot New Music: Jack Harlow - "First Class," Paulo Londra - "Chance" and ChaMane - "26"

Hip-hop is dominating the charts from around the world. During the week ending April 9, some hot new music hit streaming sites, including new hits from Louisville, KY rapper Jack Harlow, Argentine artist Paulo Londra and South Korean rapper ChaMane. Jack Harlow's banger "First Class" rolled out on streaming sites on April 8, with an official visualizer (that's currently trending on YouTube) just days after a preview of the song on social media with the artist in the studio went viral. The rapper samples Fergie’s 2006 hit “Glamorous” in "First Class." According to Chart Data, the new song has already topped the global Spotify chart and has earned the biggest chart debut of the year. Jarv Dee Drops Final Single Under H1GHR MUSIC - "No Regrets" feat. Sik-K & pH-1

Seattle artist Jarv Dee is parting ways with hip-hop label H1GHR MUSIC. The rapper dropped his track "No Regrets" featuring South Korean rappers Sik-K and pH-1 on December 27, as his last single with the label. Jarv Dee and H1GHR MUSIC posted the announcement on social media about the departure, shortly after the release of the new song. The label was founded by Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone in 2017, and Jarv Dee as one of its artists, had been with H1GHR MUSIC since then. Gump Drops Visual for Groovy New Song- "Sitcom"

South Korean artist Gump croons over smooth melodies in his new groovy track- "Sitcom." The song dropped with a quirky visual on October 13, under South Korean Indie music distributor -Mirrorball Music.  "Sitcom" is the title track of Gump's triple-single project, which also includes the songs "Merry-go" and "Fragile."  Check it out below.
