NEW MUSIC: Yayoi Daimon - "MANGO" feat. Minmi


The sounds of the Caribbean from Tokyo. Yayoi Daimon has just released her new single titled "MANGO." The Japanese singer/rapper dropped her dancehall infused track on December 20. It features Japanese hip-hop and reggae musician - Minmi.

Daimon has also announced that she'll be performing at next year's South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. SXSW runs from March 13-22, 2020. Check out Yayoi Daimon's new music below.

New Music & MV: FANXY CHILD - "Y" featuring Zico, Crush, Dean, Penomeco, Millic & Staytuned

Perhaps one of the best known hip-hop and R&B crews in South Korea, members of FANXY CHILD have teamed up once again to drop a new single and visual titled "Y." The track hit streaming sites on August 9th featuring ZICO, CRUSH, DEAN, PENOMECO and producers MILLIC and STAYTUNED. Previously we've seen them collaborate on such hits and music videos like Millic's "Paradise" and Zico's "Fanxy Child" and "Bermuda Triangle." FANXY CHILD will hold their first concert as a crew on August 10 and 11. Check out their new music below.

Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). Rapper Dok2 talks about his personal life and South Korean hip-hop - in English ("Kill Bill") interview with Snacky Chan for "Undergod"

On the March 7th episode of ' Target: Billboard - Kill Bill,' legendary rapper Dok2 brought a number of notable Korean (and Korean-American) rappers out on stage with him to perform his latest song. The show ' Kill Bill'  is an MBC hip-hop survival program which aims to put a South Korean hip-hop artist on the Billboard charts with a collaboration with DJ Khaled. Artists who hit the stage with Dok2 during this episode were Snacky Chan, Changmo, Double K, Deepflow, Los, Young B, Pyunny, Keem Hyo-Eun, Junoflo and Nucksal. After the show, Dok2 and Snacky Chan went backstage to record an interview for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." During their one on one, Dok2 compares hip-hop styles of trap and boom bap. DANCE MOVES OF THE DAY: Will Smith & Nicky Jam - Latin Dance Lessons in Colombian Restaurant

Will Smith has had another round of Latin dance lessons, this time with singer Nicky Jam down in Cartagena, Colombia. The actor, who is in Cartagena shooting a movie, shared a post on Instagram on April 23, showing what went down at a restaurant, during dinner with his son Jaden Smith. This is Will Smith's second time, sharing lessons with his followers. Back in March, Will posted his Salsa lesson with Marc Anthony from a yacht .  And it appears that Will Smith is a big fan of Nicky Jam. Australian singer William Singe is bringing the heat and heartbreak in a new single and visual titled-- "Love You Like Me."  The alt-R&B track hit streaming sites on September 6. The former member of the boy band  The Collective , known for his online covers, dropped his debut song "Rush" back in 2017. Check out his new music and video below.

Jay Park drops performance video for new song "Thoughts Of You" feat. pH-1 & BENZO

Multilingual artist and businessman Jay Park has released a new single with Chinese and English lyrics. Park dropped "Thoughts Of You" featuring pH-1 and BENZO on April 28, with a performance video on YouTube featuring his MVP (More Vision Project) dance crew and rapper pH-1 also busting a few moves. The new song follows the rollout of Jay Park's chart-topping song "GANADARA" on March 11, featuring South Korean singer and actress IU. Park released a performance video for that song on April 24, featuring MVP and HolyBang. The video dropped one day before his 35th birthday on April 25. The release of the new music comes under Park's new label/company MORE VISION, which he announced on March 2, while successfully launching his new soju brand WON SOJU and after stepping down as CEO from AOMG and H1GHR MUSIC.

NEW MUSIC & MV DROP: Part Time Cooks' trippy visual for new song "California Butterfly" featuring Jay Park

You see a lot of weird stuff in the latest music video from hip-hop duo Part Time Cooks. "California Butterfly" featuring Jay Park, dropped late on August 29 (EST). The trippy retro video for the new track features the two PTC rappers, Saul Goode and Black Moss, rapping/singing in Korean, Zulu and English on hamburgers, pizza and animated animals, and shows Park as a Lego. The video ends with Goode and Moss as Lego men as well.  There's even a rocket and a car in outer space. The YouTube video is below, and the song is streaming now on online platforms, which also includes a Tokyo Space Mix. Part Time Cooks is based in South Korea with label VMC (Vismajor Company). Black Moss is from South Africa and Saul Goode is from North Carolina. Jay Park, from Seattle and Seoul, is the co-CEO of H1GHR MUSIC and CEO of AOMG . He signed with Roc Nation in mid 2017, and dropped his U.S. debut EP for the label, "Ask Bout Me" last month on July 20. 2018....

When Asian and Black make Hip Hop

                      Asian artists and Black artists are collaborating more often on music projects now, more than ever before. You may not hear the music played yet on mainstream radio, but as our global culture shifts to more inclusiveness, you'll find these collaborations trending on social media, especially YouTube and SoundCloud. For example, Too $hort and Dumbfoundead on "Cochino," and Jay Park and Raz Simone on "Afraid of Me." Back in November (2016), World Star Hip Hop uploaded "Dirty Jersey" from Asian-American rapper Shotta Spence (Spence Lee) featuring 732 Cash (Ear Drummers). Just Jerk Crew Performs During Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony

We're only two months in, and 2018 has already been a good year for Just Jerk Crew. They are the featured backup dancers in the official music video for Jay Park and Yultron's "Forget About Tomorrow," and they just recently announced the opening of their new dance academy in South Korea. The popular urban dance team from Seoul, has been making moves together since 2010, and has even competed on America's Got Talent, season 12. Now, the group is getting even more international recognition, after performing live during the Opening Ceremony for the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. The group has shared a clip of the performance on Instagram, and some of the members have even shared behind the scenes group photos.
