New Music & MV: CHAI - "Give and Take" (feat. pH-1)

With sultry vocals and a smoky visual, singer CHAI released her debut single "Give and Take" on June 19, with an official music video. The title song to her three track release, features H1GHR MUSIC artist pH-1.

Born in Chicago, CHAI, (aka Lee Soo-jung), won the South Korean competition show K-pop Star 5 on SBS in 2016. She's currently signed with Antenna Music. Her third track on "Give and Take" ("Color You") features singer Sam Kim.

According to her social media post, her new music is currently available on Korean streaming platforms, and will be available on Apple Music and Spotify in other countries later.

Rapper GUN is trapped inside an "AQUARIUM" in new single and MV release

LowLand crew member GUN from South Korea's STARSHIPX Entertainment delivers melodic lyrics from inside a glass aquarium while waiting on his love, in a new music video for his latest single. The track and blue tinted visual dropped on April 1st. It follows the rapper's previous release of "Red Light" with crew member Jhnovr in mid 2018. Mural of Rapper Dumbfoundead Vandalized

The iconic mural of rapper Dumbfoundead painted on the side of Catalina Liquor in Koreatown in Los Angeles, has been vandalized-- that's according to a social media post from the artist. A picture of the vandalism, shows letters spray painted across it. On July 16th, Dumbfoundead thanked painter Joseph Yun Lee and Catalina Liquor on Instagram for "wanting to keep the mural up as long as they did." The mural was originally painted for the rapper's 2016 music video "Murals," a visual off his "We Might Die" album. Last year, he tweeted that he was getting a least one tagged photo a day from fans who had taken a picture in front of it. Dumbfoundead is now asking fans to send pictures or videos they had taken in front of the mural to muralsforever@gmail.com or tag him, so he can use the images in a video. The leader of the super popular kpop group BTS, from South Korea, has officially changed his name. Kim Nam-joon previously known as Rap Monster, has changed his stage name to RM. The announcement was published on the BTS official fan cafe on November 13. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). South Korean Hip-Hop label Hi-Lite Records Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Compilation Album “Legacy”

It's been ten years since South Korean rapper Paloalto founded hip-hop label Hi-Lite Records. During the decade of its rise, the label signed a number of talented popular rappers who have come and gone. Former artists include Keith Ape, B-Free, Okasian, Evo, GLV and G2. Current artists with Hi-Lite include Reddy, YunB, Swervy, Pinodyne (Huckleberry P & Soul Fish) and others. In 2015, a partnership with entertainment company CJ E&M was announced to help with global marketing. Now, to celebrate ten years of going strong, the label has released its tenth anniversary compilation album titled “Legacy.” The project dropped on streaming sites on August 16, with an official music video for the pop-rock track "Kid Rock," featuring Paloalto, jerd, Reddy and Soovi. South Korean Hip-Hop Label Hi-Lite Records Disbands after 12 Years

Another loss for the hip-hop industry in South Korea. On April 20, Hi-Lite Records founder and former CEO Paloalto announced the disbandment of the label during his Instagram Live. Paloalto created the company in 2010. He stepped down as CEO in 2020 , but remained on as a recording artist. The label was most recently home to other artists such as Reddy, Huckleberry P, Swervy, Owell Mood, Soovi, jerd and Ash-B. Hi-Lite Records posted a statement on its social media platforms following Paloalto's announcement saying in part... "As many of you heard through Paloalto’s Instagram Live, we have decided to officially disband the Hi-Lite Records label. A number of different situations and circumstances led to this decision. Above all, know that this decision was made to ensure the best possible future for our artists and employees." British singer Jay Sean has released the official music video for his new single "With You," featuring Gucci Mane and Asian Doll. The Jamar Harding directed visual dropped on April 1st, and in it, there's a lot of booty. The video shows girls in bikinis and balaclavas riding down the road on two-wheel scooters.
