Following his announced departure from YG Entertainment in July-- South Korean rapper/actor ONE (Jung Jae Won) is now back with a debut album titled "PRVT 01" under his PRIVATE ONLY independent company. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). Perhaps one of the best known hip-hop and R&B crews in South Korea, members of FANXY CHILD have teamed up once again to drop a new single and visual titled "Y." The track hit streaming sites on August 9th featuring ZICO, CRUSH, DEAN, PENOMECO and producers MILLIC and STAYTUNED. Previously we've seen them collaborate on such hits and music videos like Millic's "Paradise" and Zico's "Fanxy Child" and "Bermuda Triangle." NEW VIDEO DROP: Lil Tjay - "Hold On"

Up and coming New York rapper Lil Tjay released the visual for his song "Hold On" on October 15. The flashy video takes a dramatic turn with a flashback to a year in the past. Rapper Jessi is back with another single under P NATION (the South Korean record label founded by Psy). This time around, Jessi has global star Jay Park on the track and visual. Jessi released their collaboration - "Drip" on November 1st, and straight out the gate, she comes out swinging with swag, and singing, that she's not "going anywhere." NEW NAME FOR BTS MEMBER (formerly Rap Monster)

The leader of the super popular kpop group BTS, from South Korea, has officially changed his name. Kim Nam-joon previously known as Rap Monster, has changed his stage name to RM. The announcement was published on the BTS official fan cafe on November 13. RM wrote on it, that although he's been called Rap Monster for the past five years, he felt the need to change it, because that title was getting more and more distant from the music done for the past 5 years. -RM (via allkpop) Back on September 19, 2017, Rap Monster announced on his Beats1Noisey Interview that he would be changing his name to RM. NEW MUSIC DROP: Joji & BlocBoy JB - "Peach Jam"

A new summer song from BlocBoy JB and 88rising artist Joji. "Peach Jam" dropped as a single with an official music video on July 17, with rhythmic sounds from Joji on vocals and BlocBoy JB on the rap flow. This isn't the first collaboration for BlocBoy JB and 88rising. The rapper from Memphis, TN also teamed up with 88rising's Higher Brothers for "Let It Go," which dropped on July 10. Both songs are expected on the upcoming 88rising "Head In The Clouds," collective album on July 20th. Check out the new release below. Mural of Rapper Dumbfoundead Vandalized

The iconic mural of rapper Dumbfoundead painted on the side of Catalina Liquor in Koreatown in Los Angeles, has been vandalized-- that's according to a social media post from the artist. A picture of the vandalism, shows letters spray painted across it. On July 16th, Dumbfoundead thanked painter Joseph Yun Lee and Catalina Liquor on Instagram for "wanting to keep the mural up as long as they did." The mural was originally painted for the rapper's 2016 music video "Murals," a visual off his "We Might Die" album. Last year, he tweeted that he was getting a least one tagged photo a day from fans who had taken a picture in front of it. Dumbfoundead is now asking fans to send pictures or videos they had taken in front of the mural to muralsforever@gmail.com or tag him, so he can use the images in a video.
