NEW MUSIC: Ja Mezz is inspired by 'The Pink Panther' in new MV - "Pink is the New Black" (feat. SALU)

Move over orange, pink is now the new black. South Korean rapper Ja Mezz, from Grandline Entertainment, dropped a fun and colorful visual on November 14th, to go with his new trilingual (English, Korean and Japanese) track; "Pink is the New Black," featuring Japanese rapper SALU.

The music video begins with a piano sample of The Pink Panther theme song, and then shows Ja Mezz with pink dreads, as the private detective, who spits braggadocious lyrics about fashion and trends, but also touches on politics. Check out the music video below.
Why stylish, I am. It is what it is, why ask. It becomes a trend, once I use it. Pink is the new black.

Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. Rapper GUN is trapped inside an "AQUARIUM" in new single and MV release

LowLand crew member GUN from South Korea's STARSHIPX Entertainment delivers melodic lyrics from inside a glass aquarium while waiting on his love, in a new music video for his latest single. The track and blue tinted visual dropped on April 1st. It follows the rapper's previous release of "Red Light" with crew member Jhnovr in mid 2018. Perhaps one of the best known hip-hop and R&B crews in South Korea, members of FANXY CHILD have teamed up once again to drop a new single and visual titled "Y." The track hit streaming sites on August 9th featuring ZICO, CRUSH, DEAN, PENOMECO and producers MILLIC and STAYTUNED. Previously we've seen them collaborate on such hits and music videos like Millic's "Paradise" and Zico's "Fanxy Child" and "Bermuda Triangle." South African singer-songwriter Tyla is one of the hottest rising stars of 2023. She's currently taking over social media with her TikTok viral dance challenge from her latest single- “Water.” The song hit streaming sites in July. The official music video arrived on YouTube on October 6. It's currently (as of this writing) trending #26 on the site with nearly 13 million views.  According to Billboard, “Water” has also climbed to #1 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart, dated Oct. 21-- stopping the record 58-week streak from Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” which had led the list since Sept. 10, 2022. “Water” marks Tyla's first top spot on any Billboard chart.  The 21-year-old Johannesburg native debuted with her first music video: "Getting Late," featuring Kooldrink in 2021. With sultry vocals and a smoky visual, singer CHAI released her debut single "Give and Take" on June 19, with an official music video. The title song to her three track release, features H1GHR MUSIC artist pH-1. Born in Chicago, CHAI, (aka Lee Soo-jung), won the South Korean competition show K-pop Star 5 on SBS in 2016. She's currently signed with Antenna Music. Her third track on "Give and Take" ("Color You") features singer Sam Kim. New Music: Lil Boi - "David" with just the right Old School Feels

Mixing up the hip-hop beats with old school R&B, South Korean rapper Lil Boi returned for a two-track single release on December 7th, titled "David." Lil Boi, a member of the duo Geeks, is managed under Grandline Entertainment. His new release consist of the tracks, "Go" and "David," (featuring Kim E-Z), which the latter track begins with a piano melody on love, but then switches the beat for a bounce flow. According to the agency, "David" is a prologue to the rapper's upcoming first full-length album; "Meantime," but the track "Go" will not be on it. Many Show Me The Money fans may remember Lil Boi from season four in 2015, as a contestant with team AOMG, with Jay Park and Loco as producers/judges and Geegooin, Sik-K and David Kim as team members. AOMG Welcomes Sogumm to the Label after her "Signhere" win on MBN

South Korean label AOMG (founded by Jay Park), now has two female artists. AOMG welcomed Sogumm to the team on October 31, after the final episode of Signhere on MBN. The singer took home first place, on the competition show. Her total scores for her performance beating out Meloh, Maddox and MBA. Sogumm joins Hoody, and a crew of popular male artists, as the second woman signed to AOMG. Hoody became the first female artist to sign to the hip-hop and R&B record label back in 2015. Former 'K-pop Star 5' Singer - Lexie Liu - Now Signed with 88rising

U.S. media company, 88rising, announced a new addition to their label on June 19, with a tweet that read, "Introducing Lexie Liu Boxin to the 88rising gang." The tweet included a link to Lexie Liu's new video, "Like A Mercedes," which dropped on the 88rising YouTube channel. The 19-year-old singer-songwriter from China, might be a familiar face for some kpop fans. According to media reports, in 2015, she participated in K-pop Star 5 , a South Korean competition show, where agencies hold auditions to find potential kpop stars. She came in fourth place, and was offered a deal with one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea, YG Entertainment, but she later declined. The singer's debut single and mv for 88rising, "Like A Mercedes," centers around a cyberpunk virtual reality storyline, with R&B and melodic hip-hop sounds in English and Chinese.
