The Newest Member of AOMG - CODE KUNST - Drops Emotional Track & MV - "Rain Bird" feat. Tablo & Colde


Former HIGHGRND Producer, Code Kunst, is now the newest member of AOMG -- the Korean hip-hop (and R&B) label run by Jay Park and Simon Dominic.  AOMG revealed the news to fans on June 10, with the release of Code Kunst's new single and music video, "Rain Bird," featuring his former YG Entertainment- HIGHGRND sub-labelmates, Tablo (of Epik High) and Colde (from offonoff).


HIGHGRND was founded by Tablo in 2015. He stepped down from his position in 2017. According to Soompi magazine, HIGHGRND is now a part of YG Entertainment’s subsidiary, YGX, with BIGBANG’s Seungri as the CEO. Colde is now with WAVY.

The new release from Code Kunst, "Rain Bird," includes vocals from Colde, and Tablo rapping on an emotional ballad, which includes the lyrics...

Drake Praises Dumbfoundead in "Bad Rap" (Now on Netflix)

Before artist and battle rapper Dumbfoundead released his hot "We Might Die" album, or dropped the popular music videos for the tracks 'SAFE' and 'Harambe,' and the catchy but freaky visual for 'Water,' Dumbfoundead was sitting down with producer and director Salima Koroma and co-producer Jaeki Cho for a documentary with three of his friends called "Bad Rap." It premiered last year at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, but was just recently uploaded on Netflix. The documentary walks us through the journey he and fellow Asian-American artists Awkwafina, Lyricks and Rekstizzy were on, to break into the larger American hip-hop scene, as they navigated through the waters of culture appropriation (from the African-American community) and originality. Dumbfoundead has been known for his battle rap skills for a long time. In the film we get to re-experience his epic comeback battle (after a break) against Conceited (from Wild 'n Out)...

Simon Dominic goes after the 'haters' in new music & MV release - "DAx4" - ("DA DA DA DA")

AOMG's Simon Dominic is back-- going in with new music and a visual for his latest single - "DAx4." He's roasting 'haters' with his flow... and boasting that he'll "slice half of these rappers' necks like fruit ninja." "Come at me, Come at me y'all DA DA DA DA DA. Me vs. y'all DA DA DA DA DA" The official video for the GooseBumps produced track hit YouTube on August 14. Check it out above. There are English and Chinese subtitles for the Korean lyrics.

South Korean Hip-Hop Label Hi-Lite Records Disbands after 12 Years

Another loss for the hip-hop industry in South Korea. On April 20, Hi-Lite Records founder and former CEO Paloalto announced the disbandment of the label during his Instagram Live. Paloalto created the company in 2010. He stepped down as CEO in 2020 , but remained on as a recording artist. The label was most recently home to other artists such as Reddy, Huckleberry P, Swervy, Owell Mood, Soovi, jerd and Ash-B.  Hi-Lite Records posted a statement on its social media platforms following Paloalto's announcement saying in part...  "As many of you heard through Paloalto’s Instagram Live, we have decided to officially disband the Hi-Lite Records label. A number of different situations and circumstances led to this decision. Above all, know that this decision was made to ensure the best possible future for our artists and employees." New Hot Track - "AUTOMATIC" featuring CHANCELLOR, BABYLON, TWLV, MOON, BIBI & JISELLE

Another hot song from South Korea. The latest, six all-star singers on a melodic hip-hop track titled "AUTOMATIC." The single features CHANCELLOR, BABYLON, TWLV, MOON, BIBI and JISELLE. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. Perhaps one of the best known hip-hop and R&B crews in South Korea, members of FANXY CHILD have teamed up once again to drop a new single and visual titled "Y." The track hit streaming sites on August 9th featuring ZICO, CRUSH, DEAN, PENOMECO and producers MILLIC and STAYTUNED. Previously we've seen them collaborate on such hits and music videos like Millic's "Paradise" and Zico's "Fanxy Child" and "Bermuda Triangle." NEW MUSIC & MV: Faydee - "Trika Trika" feat. Antonia

A hot international collaboration from across the seas. Australian singer Faydee dropped his melodic hip-hop/trap-R&B single - "Trika Trika," featuring Antonia, with an official music video on October 24. According to their online profiles, Antonia is originally from Romania and Faydee is of Lebanese descent. On Instagram, he says the word trika is Arabic for "Leave her" or "Leave it alone." NEW MUSIC & MV: INNA x Vinka - "Bebe"

An eccentric collaboration between Romanian singer INNA, and Vinka from Uganda. The two released their colorful official music video with moves from a subway train, for their song "Bebe" on November 4th. Inna is known for her 2008 breakout hit "Hot." Vinka, an artist under record label - Swangz Avenue, has been moving up in the music scene in Africa and making moves in Europe. Check out their new collaboration "Bebe" below.
