Imagine dancing to the beat of music, in perpetual silence. In the official video for the track "Muanapoto," afro-punk French band, TSHEGUE, shows us a deaf woman, who also cannot speak, who is navigating her world of silence, with rhythm.
The 'film' video, dropped on May 31 on YouTube. Directed by Pantera, the mv was shot in Abidjan, the capital city of The Ivory Coast. The band consist of French-Congolese singer Faty Sy Savanet and French-Cuban producer, Nicolas ‘Dakou’ Dacunha-Castelle.
"Muanapoto," includes pulsating Congolese drum loops, with vocals from Savanet on an electrifying beat. The video, according to the duo, was inspired by the singer's experience of emigrating to Paris from her native Democratic Republic of Congo, when she was just 8-years-old, and having to adjust to new customs and languages. The track is off their debut EP 'Survivor,' which is out now. Check out the video for it below.
