Song of the Day: SFC.JGR - "Network" (as featured on the Kitsuné Hot Stream)

South Korean singer-songwriter SFC.JGR (Sergeant First Class Jaguar) from label 8BallTown, shared his R&B track "Network" in August, as part of his label's MIXX CITY VOL.2 project.

The single was re-uploaded on October 17, as part of the playlist from Kitsuné Hot Stream, which is focusing on South Korean music every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in October. Kitsuné is a French clothing brand and music label.

According to his online bio, SFC.JGR never gave up on his music, even as an actual sergeant first class in the military. The artwork for his single was illustrated by Seoul-based photographer Cho Gi Seok.  Listen to the track now below.

The leader of the super popular kpop group BTS, from South Korea, has officially changed his name. Kim Nam-joon previously known as Rap Monster, has changed his stage name to RM. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. Mural of Rapper Dumbfoundead Vandalized

The iconic mural of rapper Dumbfoundead painted on the side of Catalina Liquor in Koreatown in Los Angeles, has been vandalized-- that's according to a social media post from the artist. A picture of the vandalism, shows letters spray painted across it. On July 16th, Dumbfoundead thanked painter Joseph Yun Lee and Catalina Liquor on Instagram for "wanting to keep the mural up as long as they did."  The mural was originally painted for the rapper's 2016 music video "Murals," a visual off his "We Might Die" album. Last year, he tweeted that he was getting a least one tagged photo a day from fans who had taken a picture in front of it. Dumbfoundead is now asking fans to send pictures or videos they had taken in front of the mural to muralsforever@gmail.com or tag him, so he can use the images in a video. New Michael Jackson Tribute Video from Jason Derulo, LAY & NCT 127 - "Let's Shut Up and Dance"

In a video dedicated to Michael Jackson, American singer Jason Derulo teamed up with South Korean SM Entertainment kpop idols-- NCT 127 and LAY (from kpop group EXO). The collaboration for "Let's Shut Up and Dance" hit YouTube on February 21st, and the single hit music streaming sites on the 22nd. The song is the first single off a four-track EP titled "The Greatest Dancer," dedicated to the late King of Pop. According to the The Korea Times , the mini-album will be released on June 25, which marks the 10th anniversary of Jackson's death. The new music video from Jason Derulo, LAY and NCT 127 shows the global stars dancing Michael Jackson signature moves, as they sing shout-outs to women from around the world. Up and coming California-based rapper JMIN released his melodic track and visual titled "I Know Why" at the end of June. While the artist is still in the early stages of his music career, he is already receiving international attention after the release of the video for his song “Spaceship” on the 'No Jumper' YouTube channel last September. Jay Park Steps Down As CEO of AOMG and H1GHR MUSIC

In a surprise move, music mogul Jay Park has announced he's stepping down from his position as CEO, from both of the labels he founded---AOMG and H1GHR MUSIC. The 34-year-old South Korea-based artist from Seattle announced the decision on social media on December 31 (KST). Saying in part: "I know this may be shocking to a lot of people, but I will remain as an advisor for both labels and we will continue to be a family and a crew."  Park founded AOMG in 2013, and H1GHR MUSIC with producer Cha Cha Malone in 2017. The news follows a tweet from Park the day before which said...
