NEW MUSIC DROP: salute - "Nostalgia ‘96"


British EDM artist salute, has just dropped a new electronic dance single titled "Nostalgia ‘96."  The DJ-producer first premiered the song back in August, live on stage at the FM4 Frequency Festival in Austria.

Salute wrote on Twitter in September, that he spent the first 18 years of his life living in Vienna (Austria). He says Austria is "a country where people of color are heavily misrepresented." The artist says he struggled with his identity as a Black man. He says he moved to England four years ago.

Salute talks about his journey in a short film - Honey (Condition I) on YouTube. Condition I is also the title of his 3-track June EP release, which consists of "At Your Best," "Skin" (feat. THE DIAMONDS ARE BLACK!), and "Honey." His latest music, "Nostalgia ‘96," hit streaming sites on October 2.

Dance Moves of The Day: NCT U - Taeyong & Ten - "Baby Don't Stop" Dance Practice

Taeyong and Ten, two of the members from the kpop sub-group NCT U, have swag and a lot of it at that. Most of their fans already knew this, but for newcomers, the dance practice video released by SM Entertainment in South Korea, confirms it. The visual in the official video for "Baby Don't Stop," was already a heart stopper. But now, inside a dance studio, for the dance practice video, Taeyong and Ten make their hard, smooth and sexy hip-hop moves with quick hand and footwork, look even sexier. The choreography is really good, and the song itself is pretty tight. The dance practice (below) was released on March 16, and has over one million views. NEW VIDEO DROP: Lil Tjay - "Hold On"

Up and coming New York rapper Lil Tjay released the visual for his song "Hold On" on October 15. The flashy video takes a dramatic turn with a flashback to a year in the past. The track is off his debut album "True 2 Myself," which hit streaming sites on October 11. Check out the official music video above.

Song of the Day: Yayoi Daimon - 「ヒールで仁王立ち」 ("Heel de Nioudachi")

On Instagram, Yayoi Daimon describes herself as a Japanese feminist. The rapper/singer-songwriter/DJ released her single「ヒールで仁王立ち」("Heel de Nioudachi") back on August 8th of last year. She dropped her fierce official music video for it, on September 12th. With a quick flow, and strong bass-- the lyrics, all in Japanese- focus on female empowerment; fiercely interpreted in the visual. Jack Harlow says the only tour he's going on for the rest of 2023 is in Kentucky

Kentucky native Jack Harlow announced the return of his  No Place Like Home  tour back in August. The tour includes stops in six Kentucky cities. Taking his third annual hometown shows to a new level, the new leg of the tour will kick off on Friday, November 24 at Owensboro Sports Center in Owensboro, and will wrap in Lexington at Rupp Arena on Sunday, December 3. On social media, Harlow posted that it's the only tour he's going on this year. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster. Harlow is from Louisville and performed last in his hometown in December. BTS singer Jung Kook teams up with Kentucky rapper Jack Harlow for new single "3D"

Singer Jung Kook is back with another high-profile collaboration. The artist is a member of the Korean boy band BTS. He dropped his newest single "3D," featuring Kentucky rapper Jack Harlow, on September 29.  This is the first joint venture between Jung Kook and Jack Harlow. It follows Jung Kook's collaboration with Latto for his song "Seven," which dropped on July 14. It also follows Harlow's release of his April 2023 album "Jackman," and the announcement of his upcoming "No Place Like Home" tour.  In the song "3D," Harlow promises to fly someone from "Korea to Kentucky." Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). Posting on social media, the young rapper from Indonesia says he was "naive and made a mistake" with the name 'Rich Chigga.'   The 18-year-old also dropped a new single, "See Me," which is from his upcoming album, "Amen."   Looking for a new summer jam? Check out DJ SHAUN's electric dance track, "Thinking Of" featuring rapper OVAN and singer SUMIN. The single is the title track off his first solo mini album, "TAKE." The vocal EDM artist is known for his skill with synthesizers, and is a member of the South Korean indie rock band, The KOXX (which formed in 2009). SHAUN's EP dropped on June 27, along with a music video for "Thinking Of (생각나)." The mv features two beautiful women enjoying themselves at the beach and elsewhere, and also includes OVAN on the mic.
