Korean Hip-Hop : The Next Generation: Jo Woo Chan, Park Hyun Jin & Achillo - “OGZ”

While fans of khip-hop were waiting for the latest release from their already established favorite artists, three young rising rappers, dropped a music video on January 5, and blew everyone away.

The next generation to represent Korean Hip-Hop, consists of trainees Jo Woo Chan, Park Hyun Jin and Achillo.  Jo Woo Chan is with Cube Entertainment and participated in Show Me The Money 6. Park Hyun Jin is from Starship Entertainment and won K-Pop Star 6 (with Kim Jong-seob as part of the duo Boyfriend). ACHILLO is also with Starship.

Together the three have collaborated on the track “OGZ” (Produced by H1GHR MUSIC’s GroovyRoom), for the “OG SCHOOL PROJECT.” According to 1theK, “OGZ” comes from 'OG' Original Gangster (a respected artist who has been around for years, in the hip hop community), and the new Korean term 'Ojida' which means brilliant and talented.

The three “13-year-old rap geniuses,” Jo Woo Chan, Park Hyun Jin and Achillo, hope to become respected OGs in the future. And it looks like they are well on their way to reaching that goal.

Their single “OGZ” is pretty lit. The three boys also look good rapping their lyrics on camera. Their teenage fan base has probably expanded tremendously since the release of the track and visuals. The music video while showing off the boys' flow, also shows a mischievous side to the three. 1theK says they have a team working on subtitles, so hopefully we’ll be able to read the lyrics in English soon, to get a better understanding of what they’re spitting.

Watch the video of “OGZ” below. And also check out some of the highlights of Park Hyun Jin on K-Pop Star 6 and Jo Woo Chan on SMTM6, including when Woo Chan performed “VVIP,” with H1GHR MUISIC’s Sik-K.

Before artist and battle rapper Dumbfoundead released his hot "We Might Die" album, or dropped the popular music videos for the tracks 'SAFE' and 'Harambe,' and the catchy but freaky visual for 'Water,' Dumbfoundead was sitting down with producer and director Salima Koroma and co-producer Jaeki Cho for a documentary with three of his friends called "Bad Rap." It premiered last year at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, but was just recently uploaded on Netflix. The documentary walks us through the journey he and fellow Asian-American artists Awkwafina, Lyricks and Rekstizzy were on, to break into the larger American hip-hop scene, as they navigated through the waters of culture appropriation (from the African-American community) and originality. Dumbfoundead has been known for his battle rap skills for a long time. In the film we get to re-experience his epic comeback battle (after a break) against Conceited (from Wild 'n Out)...
