Song of The Day: Sway D - "G-Shock"

Sometimes the little things in life, can make everything right in the world, especially if it's a gift from a parent. Sway D from Hi-Lite records, recently dropped his latest single "G-Shock". At first glance, it seems to be a promotion for a South Korean jewelry/watch company. But after viewing the video for the track on YouTube, you discover the song, is a whole lot more, and the video offers a feeling of nostalgia, as Sway D gives us a song of reflection from his car.

The opening scenes show us a cute little boy walking with his mother, with a new G-Shock watch in a box. The little boy seems so happy and cherishes the gift long after he gets home. And it seems with the watch, the child is invincible and ready to conquer the world. Later we see Sway D rapping about how blessed his life is. You'll have to watch the video to see what happens next.

The song has a nice beat and flow in Korean, and leaves you feeling good after watching the visual (even if it was made as a deal with the G-Shock watch company). Hip-hop is dominating the charts from around the world. During the week ending April 9, some hot new music hit streaming sites, including new hits from Louisville, KY rapper Jack Harlow, Argentine artist Paulo Londra and South Korean rapper ChaMane. South Korean rapper Coogie drops new single as contract with AOMG expires

South Korean artist Coogie dropped his new single "1,2,3,4,5" on January 23, 2025--the same day record label AOMG announced its exclusive contract with the rapper had come to an end. Coogie signed with AOMG in 2022. He was previously signed under hip-hop label ATMseoul. He became known for his sing-song melodic rap style after participating in the South Korean rap competition series Show Me The Money 777 in 2018. The translation to AOMG's post on X reads... British singer Jay Sean has released the official music video for his new single "With You," featuring Gucci Mane and Asian Doll. The Jamar Harding directed visual dropped on April 1st, and in it, there's a lot of booty. The video shows girls in bikinis and balaclavas riding down the road on two-wheel scooters. Rapper BLOO from MKIT RAIN‏, has returned with his second mini album. "BLOO IN WONDERLAND" (featuring niahn and labelmate nafla) dropped on November 19, with an official music video for its BIG BANANA produced track "I'm the one." In the visual, BLOO (with a melodic flat electric delivery), has taken on the character of a man in an intimate relationship with a beautiful woman. The song, as well as other tracks on the EP, include partial lyrics in English. The mini-album also includes the pre-released single "Take me" (feat. nafla). SONG of The Week: EXO - "Ya Ya Ya" - with a sample from SWV- “You’re the One”

It's that 90s sample that makes the song. On November 27, Kpop group EXO released their sixth album titled "OBSESSION." On it, the track "Ya Ya Ya," which samples American R&B trio-- SWV, and their 1996 hit-- “You’re the One.” The new song from EXO, "Ya Ya Ya," was co-produced by Dem Jointz, who’s previously worked with Dr. Dre, Anderson .Paak and ScHoolboy Q, according to Genius.com. The vocals on the song include the current six active members of the group... Sehun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai, Baekhyun, and Suho. And it's the loop of that SWV sample throughout the track, that makes you want to hear the song over and over again, after you first hit play. The repeat-- for the club, campus, home or car. KPOP Idol J-Hope from BTS - in Drake's "In My Feelings" Official Music Video

by Nefertiti Jenkins So many people from around the world have danced to Drake's Scorpion "In My Feelings" track, thanks to comedian Shiggy, and the viral challenge he created, that Drake almost didn't need an official music video for the song. But he made one anyway. The MV dropped late on August 2nd, and with more than 8 million views, 12 hours later, it is currently the number one trending video on YouTube. Directed by Karena Evans in a New Orleans setting, the cameos in it are epic. At the beginning of the video we see Drake outside a New Orleans home, trying to sweet talk his Keke, played by TV personality and actress La La Anthony, but the two are interrupted by Keke's mother, played Cosby Show legend Phylicia Rashad. It then goes on to feature scenes of dancers and Shiggy in the Big Easy, until Drake wakes from his "dream" and gets annoyed by a production assistant, also played by Shiggy. On Instagram, Yayoi Daimon describes herself as a Japanese feminist. The rapper/singer-songwriter/DJ released her single「ヒールで仁王立ち」("Heel de Nioudachi") back on August 8th of last year. She dropped her fierce official music video for it, on September 12th. With a quick flow, and strong bass-- the lyrics, all in Japanese- focus on female empowerment; fiercely interpreted in the visual.
