New "OFF DUTY" Album from South Korea's Dynamic Duo

Dynamic Duo's Choiza and Gaeko are back with hard-hitting and melodic flows in their new 12-track album titled "OFF DUTY." The project hit streaming sites on November 26, with a visual for their title track, "MSG," featuring PENOMECO. The album includes the popular pre-release "Blue," featuring Crush and SOLE. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). South Korean rapper The Quiett rides out in a Bentley in final 1LLIONAIRE RECORDS release - "BENTLEY 2"

With his laid-back 90s rap flow and braggadocious lyrics, rapper The Quiett is one of the smoothest artists in hip-hop. He is also the co-founder, with rapper Dok2, of one of the most influential record companies in South Korea. Both are part of a group of legends responsible for putting South Korean hip-hop on the map. Their label - 1LLIONAIRE RECORDS, was established in January 2011. They added rapper Beenzino later that year. In 2016, the two established a second label, of younger up-and-coming artists called Ambition Musik. The co-CEOs also toured the United States in 2016, and in 2017, putting on great high energy performances. INLet'sGo! caught their 2016 stop in Atlanta.  On November 11, 2020, The Quiett dropped his last double single under 1LLIONAIRE RECORDS, marking the last 1LLIONAIRE DAY (of new music drops), and the final project for the company. MMA fighter Seo Jinsoo drops a sexy rap video - "VOODOO" (feat. Duplex G)

South Korean mixed martial arts fighter Seo Jinsoo, has just thrown a knockout punch on the hip-hop scene with his debut single - "VOODOO" featuring Duplex G. The official music video for the track dropped on October 12. Instead of a fighting ring (or The Octagon), Seo Jinsoo hits the party scene on a slow tempo beat as he contemplates his lifestyle with alcohol over interactions with sexy women. Check it out above. Seo is receiving support for his video from global hip-hop/R&B star Jay Park, who has been working out with MMA fighters, and even signed fighter Chan Sung Jung to his AOMG label back in May. Now Listening To: Tyla's - "Water" - The single that's now at the Top of Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart

South African singer-songwriter Tyla is one of the hottest rising stars of 2023. She's currently taking over social media with her TikTok viral dance challenge from her latest single- “Water.” The song hit streaming sites in July. The official music video arrived on YouTube on October 6. It's currently (as of this writing) trending #26 on the site with nearly 13 million views.  According to Billboard, “Water” has also climbed to #1 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart, dated Oct. 21-- stopping the record 58-week streak from Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” which had led the list since Sept. 10, 2022. “Water” marks Tyla's first top spot on any Billboard chart.  The 21-year-old Johannesburg native debuted with her first music video: "Getting Late," featuring Kooldrink in 2021. The latest label collaboration for H1GHR MUSIC is due out on July 30th. The title of the song is "WATER." It features label co-CEO Jay Park, as well as his artists pH-1, Sik-K, Woodie Gochild and Haon. To build hype for it, the rappers have been taunting each other with braggadocious disses on social media about who has the best verse on the track. On July 26, pH-1 tweeted on twitter and captioned on Instagram, along with video with his dog Holly listening to the song, saying "so Holly the critic tells me that my verse on this unreleased H1GHR track was the coldest... you be the judge on 07/30." What's Next for Jay Park After Dropping Visual for New Song "To Life" and Stepping Down As CEO of AOMG and H1GHR MUSIC?

He's touched millions of hearts with his music, dance moves and public actions for more than a decade, and now mega entertainer Jay Park is starting a new chapter with a "toast to life."  On January 1, the singer/rapper turned entrepreneur dropped the official music video on his YouTube channel, for his new single-- "To Life." The song is about his hustle in the music industry and other achievements. In the visual, the long-time artist sets his AOMG ring and H1GHR MUSIC chain down on a display. The scene cementing his December 31 social media announcement of his decision to step down from his position of CEO from both of his hip-hop music labels-- AOMG and H1GHR MUSIC.  Park founded AOMG in 2013, just years after parting ways with JYP Entertainment, where he was the leader of KPOP group 2PM. CEOs Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone Promote H1GHR MUSIC 'SXSW' Showcase (UPDATE - New Promo Video)

For fans who get to go, they are in for what's looking to be a really great hip-hop show. On March 5, CEOs of H1GHR MUSIC, Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone, posted a flyer on their social media accounts, of their label's showcase at SXSW (South by Southwest).  The showcase is happening on March 17, at 8 p.m. at The Main on E. 6th St. in Austin, TX. The two music trailblazers will co-host the special event. The lineup includes artists Phe Reds, Jarv Dee, Avatar Darko, pH-1, Ted Park, Raz Simone, DJ Pumkin and DJ Rocryte. Junoflo (from Feel Ghood Music) is listed as a special performer for the H1GHR MUSIC showcase (and according to the flyer, Jay Park will also have a special performance during that event). With sultry vocals and a smoky visual, singer CHAI released her debut single "Give and Take" on June 19, with an official music video. The title song to her three track release, features H1GHR MUSIC artist pH-1. Born in Chicago, CHAI, (aka Lee Soo-jung), won the South Korean competition show K-pop Star 5 on SBS in 2016. She's currently signed with Antenna Music. Her third track on "Give and Take" ("Color You") features singer Sam Kim. CocoSori’s CoCo has released a sweet pop and alt-R&B track to cap off the summer season of love. "Sugar Cake" featuring rapper Microdot dropped on August 16 with an official music video, with romantic visuals on YouTube. The single is mostly in Korean, but has English subtitles. This is the second solo track for the artist. Her first solo single, " Wishy Washy " dropped in May 2017.
