ALL in GOOD FUN: Jay Park responds to pH-1, Sik-K, Woodie Gochild & Haon's verse taunts promoting upcoming H1GHR MUSIC collaboration release - "WATER"

The latest label collaboration for H1GHR MUSIC is due out on July 30th. The title of the song is "WATER." It features label co-CEO Jay Park, as well as his artists pH-1, Sik-K, Woodie Gochild and Haon. To build hype for it, the rappers have been taunting each other with braggadocious disses on social media about who has the best verse on the track.

On July 26, pH-1 tweeted on twitter and captioned on Instagram, along with video with his dog Holly listening to the song, saying "so Holly the critic tells me that my verse on this unreleased H1GHR track was the coldest... you be the judge on 07/30."

Also on July 26, on Instagram Story, Sik-K shared video of himself jamming to "WATER," but also shaking his head on the verses featuring the other artists. Sik-K also replied to pH-1's tweet, writing "Plz somebody tell him my hook is everything not his verse."

Woodie Gochild stepped in on July 27, on Instagram, dissing the other rappers' verses, and dancing to his own. Haon jumped into the ring on Instagram on July 28, splashing himself with a cup of water, while wearing two colorful hats and red headphones.

Hours later, also on July 28, their boss, Jay Park responded with his own barbs on Instagram, taking jabs at each of his artists (on the track), and breaking down their verses in Korean and English, saying in part - "It's pronounced Wa-ter," to Sik-K, and mocking how he delivers the hook. Park also goes on to school Woodie Gochild, pH-1 and Haon before boasting about his own flow. 

Of course, fans know all of the digs are all in good fun. Fans are looking forward to listening to the full track for "WATER" on July 30.

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. Perhaps one of the best known hip-hop and R&B crews in South Korea, members of FANXY CHILD have teamed up once again to drop a new single and visual titled "Y." The track hit streaming sites on August 9th featuring ZICO, CRUSH, DEAN, PENOMECO and producers MILLIC and STAYTUNED. Previously we've seen them collaborate on such hits and music videos like Millic's "Paradise" and Zico's "Fanxy Child" and "Bermuda Triangle." Rapper Dok2 talks about his personal life and South Korean hip-hop - in English ("Kill Bill") interview with Snacky Chan for "Undergod"

On the March 7th episode of ' Target: Billboard - Kill Bill,' legendary rapper Dok2 brought a number of notable Korean (and Korean-American) rappers out on stage with him to perform his latest song. The show ' Kill Bill'  is an MBC hip-hop survival program which aims to put a South Korean hip-hop artist on the Billboard charts with a collaboration with DJ Khaled. Artists who hit the stage with Dok2 during this episode were Snacky Chan, Changmo, Double K, Deepflow, Los, Young B, Pyunny, Keem Hyo-Eun, Junoflo and Nucksal. After the show, Dok2 and Snacky Chan went backstage to record an interview for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." During their one on one, Dok2 compares hip-hop styles of trap and boom bap. New Music On The Way: AOMG - Jay Park, Simon Dominic, Gray and Loco

A surprise announcement from hip-hop label AOMG.  On Saturday, April 14, the label (based in Korea) shared a post on Instagram with a silhouette image of four guys in a dark place that read "Here we got Jay Park, Simon Dominic, Gray and Loco shooting a music video. Please stay tuned for collaboration work from our artists." There were two pictures. One upright, and the other upside down.  To add to the AOMG announcement, rapper Loco posted on Instagram, an upside down picture of himself from a set with a caption that says Tuesday, May 1st. Producer/Singer/Rapper Gray has also posted a picture from a set on his Instagram that also reads Tuesday, May 1st. Based on a tweet from the fanbase Jay Park Network on Twitter,  the collaboration could be called "Turn It Over/Upside Down." CONCERT WATCH: ZION.T - U.S. & Canada Tour

South Korean R&B singer Zion.T is bringing his smooth style to the U.S. and Canada this March. The artist will hit the stage in New York, Dallas, San Jose, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Vancouver.  The tour kicks off on March 16 with KPOPME. Ticket information available at   ZIONT.KPOPME.COM. Fans have seen Zion.T perform in North America before, including at KCON, and the Show Me The Money 5 tour. INLet'sGo! saw Zion.T during the SMTM5 Chicago stop, and enjoyed his laid back performance and then crazy hype moment for "Machine Gun," with fellow show producer judge, Kush and 2nd place finisher, Cjamm. South Korean Hip-Hop Label Hi-Lite Records Disbands after 12 Years

Another loss for the hip-hop industry in South Korea. On April 20, Hi-Lite Records founder and former CEO Paloalto announced the disbandment of the label during his Instagram Live. Paloalto created the company in 2010. He stepped down as CEO in 2020 , but remained on as a recording artist. The label was most recently home to other artists such as Reddy, Huckleberry P, Swervy, Owell Mood, Soovi, jerd and Ash-B.  Hi-Lite Records posted a statement on its social media platforms following Paloalto's announcement saying in part...  "As many of you heard through Paloalto’s Instagram Live, we have decided to officially disband the Hi-Lite Records label. A number of different situations and circumstances led to this decision. Above all, know that this decision was made to ensure the best possible future for our artists and employees." NEW NAME FOR BTS MEMBER (formerly Rap Monster)

The leader of the super popular kpop group BTS, from South Korea, has officially changed his name. Kim Nam-joon previously known as Rap Monster, has changed his stage name to RM. The announcement was published on the BTS official fan cafe on November 13.  RM wrote on it, that although he's been called Rap Monster for the past five years, he felt the need to change it, because that title was   getting more and more distant from the music done for the past 5 years.                                                                    -RM (via allkpop)    Back on September 19, 2017, Rap Monster announced on his Beats1Noisey Interview that he would be changing his name to RM. CONCERT WATCH: "Show Me The Money 5" U.S. Tour

Love hip hop? Check out the Show Me The Money tour hitting the U.S. this September, for some of the best performers in hip hop in concert. Show Me The Money is a Korean reality competition show in its 5th season, featuring popular recording artists from popular labels as judges and producers. Thousands of people tried out for the program earlier this year in Korea, but auditions were also held this season in Los Angeles. American producer Timbaland was a guest judge. According to promoter Powerhouse, SMTM5 winner BewhY and runner up CJAMM will be hitting  the stage for the U.S. tour on September 3 rd in Chicago and September 4 th in Los Angeles. Tickets are on sale through ticketmaster.com and axs.com. The line-up also includes the popular producers from Team YG, Zion.T and Kush, Team Gill and Mad Clown, Team Illionaire, Dok2 and The Quiett, and Team AOMG, Gray and Simon Dominic.
