ALL in GOOD FUN: Jay Park responds to pH-1, Sik-K, Woodie Gochild & Haon's verse taunts promoting upcoming H1GHR MUSIC collaboration release - "WATER"

UPDATED: 07/30/19 - Sik-K single - "WATER" feat. Woodie Gochild, pH-1, HAON & Jay Park (produced by GooseBumps) is out on streaming sites now.


The latest label collaboration for H1GHR MUSIC is due out on July 30th. The title of the song is "WATER." It features label co-CEO Jay Park, as well as his artists pH-1, Sik-K, Woodie Gochild and Haon. To build hype for it, the rappers have been taunting each other with braggadocious disses on social media about who has the best verse on the track.

On July 26, pH-1 tweeted on twitter and captioned on Instagram, along with video with his dog Holly listening to the song, saying "so Holly the critic tells me that my verse on this unreleased H1GHR track was the coldest... you be the judge on 07/30."

Also on July 26, on Instagram Story, Sik-K shared video of himself jamming to "WATER," but also shaking his head on the verses featuring the other artists. Sik-K also replied to pH-1's tweet, writing "Plz somebody tell him my hook is everything not his verse."

Woodie Gochild stepped in on July 27, on Instagram, dissing the other rappers' verses, and dancing to his own. Haon jumped into the ring on Instagram on July 28, splashing himself with a cup of water, while wearing two colorful hats and red headphones.

Hours later, also on July 28, their boss, Jay Park responded with his own barbs on Instagram, taking jabs at each of his artists (on the track), and breaking down their verses in Korean and English, saying in part - "It's pronounced Wa-ter," to Sik-K, and mocking how he delivers the hook. Park also goes on to school Woodie Gochild, pH-1 and Haon before boasting about his own flow. 

Of course, fans know all of the digs are all in good fun. Fans are looking forward to listening to the full track for "WATER" on July 30.

Rapper Shotta Spence Shares his Mother's Story

Shotta Spence, the 21-year-old up and coming rapper from New Jersey, shared part of his mother's journey from Vietnam, on Instagram, on Monday, September 4, as he wished her a Happy Birthday, and thanked her for supporting him as an artist. Hi-Lite Records founder Paloalto steps down as CEO and Drops New Single - “Let the Story Begin”

Just weeks after celebrating the ten year anniversary of the record label he founded, rapper Paloalto announced on August 30, that he was resigning from his position of CEO at Hi-Lite Records. The Korean hip-hop artist says he will be staying on at the company to focus on his music.  On the same day as the announcement that he was stepping down, Paloalto also dropped a new single titled “Let the Story Begin,” produced by Yosi. B.I links up with Soulja Boy and DeVita in new song - "BTBT"

South Korean rapper and singer B.I dropped his new collaboration "BTBT," with American rapper Soulja Boy on May 13. His song featuring AOMG singer DeVita, is a pre-release off his upcoming album project "LOVE OR LOVED [L.O.L]." The single is a mixture of dance vibes with afrobeat backgrounds. The song title refers to a Korean phrase that means staggering.  B.I is a former member of Kpop group iKON, and he's now releasing music as a solo artist under his 131 Label, affiliated with IOK Music. On May 13, the rapper released a futuristic music video with the rollout for "BTBT." He has also announced a performance video with choreography by AITTY TOO for the single. That visual is due out on May 17 (or May 18 KST). 

Drake and Jack Harlow shoot music video during The Kentucky Derby for song "Churchill Downs"

On the eve of the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby, Louisville native and rapper, 24-year-old Jack Harlow dropped his new album- "Come Home the Kids Miss You." The project hit streaming sites on May 6th, one day before the May 7th Derby at the Churchill Downs horse-racetrack in Louisville.  Harlow's album includes the Drake-assisted song "Churchill Downs," in which the two rappers share lyrics of introspection before Drake wraps up the more than five minute track with... "Kentucky derby races, my presence in the spot is so abrasive. Box at the Churchill Downs, that's motivation, yeah. And shorty like, "You know that boy Jack is goin' places."    The lyrics in Drake's verse were a prelude to what was to come. Mural of Rapper Dumbfoundead Vandalized

The iconic mural of rapper Dumbfoundead painted on the side of Catalina Liquor in Koreatown in Los Angeles, has been vandalized-- that's according to a social media post from the artist. A picture of the vandalism, shows letters spray painted across it. On July 16th, Dumbfoundead thanked painter Joseph Yun Lee and Catalina Liquor on Instagram for "wanting to keep the mural up as long as they did."  The mural was originally painted for the rapper's 2016 music video "Murals," a visual off his "We Might Die" album. Last year, he tweeted that he was getting a least one tagged photo a day from fans who had taken a picture in front of it. Dumbfoundead is now asking fans to send pictures or videos they had taken in front of the mural to or tag him, so he can use the images in a video. South Korean Hip-Hop Label Hi-Lite Records Disbands after 12 Years

Another loss for the hip-hop industry in South Korea. On April 20, Hi-Lite Records founder and former CEO Paloalto announced the disbandment of the label during his Instagram Live. Paloalto created the company in 2010. He stepped down as CEO in 2020 , but remained on as a recording artist. The label was most recently home to other artists such as Reddy, Huckleberry P, Swervy, Owell Mood, Soovi, jerd and Ash-B.  Hi-Lite Records posted a statement on its social media platforms following Paloalto's announcement saying in part...  "As many of you heard through Paloalto’s Instagram Live, we have decided to officially disband the Hi-Lite Records label. A number of different situations and circumstances led to this decision. Above all, know that this decision was made to ensure the best possible future for our artists and employees." Hip-hop is dominating the charts from around the world. During the week ending April 9, some hot new music hit streaming sites, including new hits from Louisville, KY rapper Jack Harlow, Argentine artist Paulo Londra and South Korean rapper ChaMane. Jack Harlow's banger "First Class" rolled out on streaming sites on April 8, with an official visualizer (that's currently trending on YouTube) just days after a preview of the song on social media with the artist in the studio went viral. The rapper samples Fergie’s 2006 hit “Glamorous” in "First Class." According to Chart Data, the new song has already topped the global Spotify chart and has earned the biggest chart debut of the year. SONG of The Week: EXO - "Ya Ya Ya" - with a sample from SWV- “You’re the One”

It's that 90s sample that makes the song. On November 27, Kpop group EXO released their sixth album titled "OBSESSION." On it, the track "Ya Ya Ya," which samples American R&B trio-- SWV, and their 1996 hit-- “You’re the One.” The new song from EXO, "Ya Ya Ya," was co-produced by Dem Jointz, who’s previously worked with Dr. Dre, Anderson .Paak and ScHoolboy Q, according to The vocals on the song include the current six active members of the group... Sehun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai, Baekhyun, and Suho. And it's the loop of that SWV sample throughout the track, that makes you want to hear the song over and over again, after you first hit play. British group Little Mix drops NEW VIDEO: "Woman Like Me" featuring Nicki Minaj

They're too powerful to fit the mold of a man's ideal woman. British girl group Little Mix released their new video for "Woman Like Me," featuring Nicki Minaj on Oct. 25, breaking down stereotypes while at 'finishing school.' The members are Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson. The quartet from London has been around since 2011, after coming together during the eighth season of the UK version of The X Factor. They were the first group to win the competition.
