New Music & MV drop: SUMIN - "Your Home" featuring Xin Seha

South Korean singer SUMIN has released her first full-length album, along with a music video to go with the title song featuring Xin Seha. The 11-track LP "Your Home," dropped on August 10th on Korean streaming sites.

The mv (uploaded to YouTube) begins with a suitcase falling from the sky into an ocean. The video looks retro, and the song vibes like 80s R&B. The lyrics are in Korean, and even if you don't understand it, you'll still fall in love with her vocals and the track's flow. Check it out below, and also watch the music video she pre-released in July for another track on the album- "Sugar Fountain."

Jay Park Celebrates National Liberation Day of Korea with new video for "DNA Remix"

After facing backlash for the original "DNA Remix" video, H1GHR MUSIC CEO Jay Park has uploaded a new video for the collaboration project. The new video, showing the culture, traditions and landmarks of South Korea through the eyes of a young boy, hit YouTube on August 15 to coincide with National Liberation Day of Korea. The holiday, according to Wikipedia, is celebrated every year on August 15, in both South and North Korea, in commemoration of the victory over Japan, "when at the end of World War II, the U.S. and allied forces helped end 35 years of Japanese occupation and colonial rule of Korea, which lasted from 1910–1945." On social media, H1GHR MUSIC says the day "represents South Korea and its peoples’ perseverance, pride and courage." South Korean rapper Coogie drops new single as contract with AOMG expires

South Korean artist Coogie dropped his new single "1,2,3,4,5" on January 23, 2025--the same day record label AOMG announced its exclusive contract with the rapper had come to an end. Coogie signed with AOMG in 2022. He was previously signed under hip-hop label ATMseoul. He became known for his sing-song melodic rap style after participating in the South Korean rap competition series Show Me The Money 777 in 2018. The translation to AOMG's post on X reads... Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). South Korean Hip-Hop Label Hi-Lite Records Disbands after 12 Years

Another loss for the hip-hop industry in South Korea. On April 20, Hi-Lite Records founder and former CEO Paloalto announced the disbandment of the label during his Instagram Live. Paloalto created the company in 2010. He stepped down as CEO in 2020 , but remained on as a recording artist. The label was most recently home to other artists such as Reddy, Huckleberry P, Swervy, Owell Mood, Soovi, jerd and Ash-B. Hi-Lite Records posted a statement on its social media platforms following Paloalto's announcement saying in part... "As many of you heard through Paloalto’s Instagram Live, we have decided to officially disband the Hi-Lite Records label. A number of different situations and circumstances led to this decision. Above all, know that this decision was made to ensure the best possible future for our artists and employees." Jay Park dropped his R&B single "Whenever" one year ago, on July 23, 2025. Crooning "call me whenever" in an English and Japanese version. The Japanese version includes a passionate live clip on YouTube from part one of his Serenades & Body Rolls tour last year in Japan. Since then, Park has announced part two for 2026 , which includes his More Vision South Korean boy band LNGSHOT. This second leg of the tour kicks off on September 3 in São Paulo, Brazil with stops in Mexico, North America and Europe. No word if he'll perform this song, but for now, Jay Park's "Whenever" is today's Song of the Day.
