Looking for something to chill out with? Check out the new electronica album from DJ Deepshower. "COLORS" dropped on August 11, and some big names from the Korean music industry have hopped on it to lend a hand with vocals.

Featured artists include Hoody and Ugly Duck from Hip-Hop/R&B label AOMG, as well as MRSHLL from Hip-Hop/R&B label Feel Ghood Music, and JB from KPOP group GOT7. He's featured on the song "HIGHER," and was caught on fancam performing it, at the "Colors" Release Party at SOAP in Seoul. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). South African singer-songwriter Tyla is one of the hottest rising stars of 2023. She's currently taking over social media with her TikTok viral dance challenge from her latest single- “Water.” The song hit streaming sites in July. The official music video arrived on YouTube on October 6. It's currently (as of this writing) trending #26 on the site with nearly 13 million views.  According to Billboard, “Water” has also climbed to #1 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart, dated Oct. 21-- stopping the record 58-week streak from Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” which had led the list since Sept. 10, 2022. “Water” marks Tyla's first top spot on any Billboard chart.  The 21-year-old Johannesburg native debuted with her first music video: "Getting Late," featuring Kooldrink in 2021. Rapper Jessi and Jay Park "Drip" with Swag in New Music & MV

Rapper Jessi is back with another single under P NATION (the South Korean record label founded by Psy). This time around, Jessi has global star Jay Park on the track and visual. Jessi released their collaboration - "Drip" on November 1st, and straight out the gate, she comes out swinging with swag, and singing, that she's not "going anywhere." Park joins her midway in-- getting his brag on-- with a smooth flow about his "legacy." Check out the new music and video below.

Simon Dominic goes after the 'haters' in new music & MV release - "DAx4" - ("DA DA DA DA")

AOMG's Simon Dominic is back-- going in with new music and a visual for his latest single - "DAx4." He's roasting 'haters' with his flow... and boasting that he'll "slice half of these rappers' necks like fruit ninja." "Come at me, Come at me y'all DA DA DA DA DA. Rapper Dok2 talks about his personal life and South Korean hip-hop - in English ("Kill Bill") interview with Snacky Chan for "Undergod"

On the March 7th episode of ' Target: Billboard - Kill Bill,' legendary rapper Dok2 brought a number of notable Korean (and Korean-American) rappers out on stage with him to perform his latest song. The show ' Kill Bill'  is an MBC hip-hop survival program which aims to put a South Korean hip-hop artist on the Billboard charts with a collaboration with DJ Khaled. Artists who hit the stage with Dok2 during this episode were Snacky Chan, Changmo, Double K, Deepflow, Los, Young B, Pyunny, Keem Hyo-Eun, Junoflo and Nucksal. After the show, Dok2 and Snacky Chan went backstage to record an interview for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." During their one on one, Dok2 compares hip-hop styles of trap and boom bap. Beyoncé's Coachella Performance and Tribute to Black College Culture

So this part of being Black is not widely understood or known. The Black college experience is a huge part of African-American culture, which was on full display during singer Beyoncé's historic and epic performance at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA. Beyoncé is the first black woman to headline Coachella, and on Instagram, Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, confesses that she had doubts about what was planned for the Coachella crowd. BTS To Perform at Billboard Music Awards

Back on American television. Kpop group BTS announced on April 24, that it will be performing at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. The show is May 20th on NBC. The group has been nominated for the Top Social Artist award. Last year BTS won the title, and attended the show. This year, according to Billboard, the members will perform with a world television premiere of a new single. Two days before, according to BTS, the members will release their new full album "Love Yourself: Tear" on May 18. Last year in November, BTS debuted on American television for a performance at the American Music Awards. The seven-member boy group also was on the "The Ellen Show," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and "The Late Late Show with James Corden." KATIE Returns With New Single & MV - "ECHO"

Singer KATIE is back with another smooth sultry track. The artist released her new single "ECHO" and the visual for it on April 24. KATIE dropped her debut EP "LOG," in 2019. It included a feature with Ty Dolla $ign on her breakout hit "Remember." According to the description on her YouTube channel, the singer worked with the same producers and music video director for both "Remember" and "ECHO."

Jay Park Announces new H1GHR MUSIC Artist - Seo Donghyun a.k.a. Big Naughty

During the second and final day of his 2019  Off Route Fest in South Korea, co-CEO/entertainer Jay Park announced the newest member of his second label- H1GHR MUSIC, as rapper/singer Seo Donghyun a.k.a. Big Naughty. Park introduced the young artist on stage, on Oct. 6, in front of a crowd of thousands of people at the music festival, and later posted video of the moment to Instagram. According to Park, Donghyun is now the youngest member of the label (previously that title went to rapper Haon). Big Naughty was a contestant on season eight of the popular South Korean rap competition program - Show Me The Money (SMTM). He was eliminated in the semi-finals. New Music & MV: FANXY CHILD - "Y" featuring Zico, Crush, Dean, Penomeco, Millic & Staytuned

Perhaps one of the best known hip-hop and R&B crews in South Korea, members of FANXY CHILD have teamed up once again to drop a new single and visual titled "Y." The track hit streaming sites on August 9th featuring ZICO, CRUSH, DEAN, PENOMECO and producers MILLIC and STAYTUNED. Previously we've seen them collaborate on such hits and music videos like Millic's "Paradise" and Zico's "Fanxy Child" and "Bermuda Triangle." FANXY CHILD will hold their first concert as a crew on August 10 and 11. Check out their new music below.
