Now Listening To: Filipino Hip-Hop and R&B - PARADISE RISING's EP "Semilucent 2"

Back for a second round of new sounds, 88rising's label PARADISE RISING has dropped a new EP featuring Filipino hip-hop and R&B artists. The 5-track "Semilucent 2" project hit streaming sites on October 4 with several visuals on YouTube. The mini-album includes music from Canadian duo MANILA GREY, as well as singers Steven Peregrina, Daze and Yuna (from Malaysia), rapper Curtismith, CA Christian Alexander and producer Manila Killa. The new music follows the first "Semilucent" EP, which rolled out in July 2020. Check out the new project below.

Sam Kim joins Ruel for a Live Performance of "Not Thinkin' Bout You"

16-year-old Australian singer  Ruel took time out from his busy touring schedule recently to hit the small stage with Korean-American singer Sam Kim . Ruel was in South Korea for a March 21st concert. The two artists crooned out Ruel's song "Not Thinkin' Bout You," in a soulful dingo music LIVE performance. "Not Thinkin' Bout You" is off the teen's 2018 debut EP "Ready." Sam Kim also joined Ruel on the big stage during his actual "Ready" concert in Seoul.

Jay Park Celebrates National Liberation Day of Korea with new video for "DNA Remix"

After facing backlash for the original "DNA Remix" video, H1GHR MUSIC CEO Jay Park has uploaded a new video for the collaboration project. The new video, showing the culture, traditions and landmarks of South Korea through the eyes of a young boy, hit YouTube on August 15 to coincide with National Liberation Day of Korea.  The holiday, according to Wikipedia, is celebrated every year on August 15, in both South and North Korea, in commemoration of the victory over Japan, "when at the end of World War II, the U.S. and allied forces helped end 35 years of Japanese occupation and colonial rule of Korea, which lasted from 1910–1945." On social media, H1GHR MUSIC says the day "represents South Korea and its peoples’ perseverance, pride and courage." KHip-Hop Legends: Deepflow, Paloalto, The Quiett, Yumdda and Simon Dominic collab in a Dingo x DAMOIM single & MV - "Forever 84"

A Dingo and DAMOIM collaboration with some of the top hip-hop heavy hitters in South Korea-- who mostly were born in 1984. Part one of the project - "Forever 84," hit streaming sites on November 19, with a Dingo music video on YouTube, featuring Yumdda, Deepflow, Paloalto, The Quiett and Simon Dominic. The rappers, now in their 30s-- have each helped to put South Korean hip-hop on the map. They represent labels AOMG, Hi-Lite Records, ILLIONAIRE RECORDS and VMC. And the artists are living life to the fullest in their DF Film visual, as they are "forever young, forever rich, forever 84." The track--was produced by Unsinkable. Check it out above and below. Rich Brian Spotlights Indonesian Culture in new "Kids" visual off Forthcoming Album

19-year-old Indonesian rapper Rich Brian dropped the official music video for his track "Kids" on July 19-- showing the scenes, people and culture of his hometown of Jakarta, Indonesia. The single is a pre-release off his upcoming album - "The Sailor," which is due out on July 26. He dropped the track and visual "Yellow" off it, on June 26. In "Kids," Brian spits bars about his rise in Hip-Hop, and his impact on the next generation. I'm makin' songs that'll probably outlive us for generations. Started off as the sailor, look at me, now I'm the captain. Rich Brian will be live on stage at the 88rising Head In The Clouds Music & Arts Festival on August 17th at Los Angeles State Historic Park. Rapper GUN is trapped inside an "AQUARIUM" in new single and MV release

LowLand crew member GUN from South Korea's STARSHIPX Entertainment delivers melodic lyrics from inside a glass aquarium while waiting on his love, in a new music video for his latest single. The track and blue tinted visual dropped on April 1st. It follows the rapper's previous release of "Red Light" with crew member Jhnovr in mid 2018. Beyond glass walls, all that lays is a colossal aquarium. I was always the one spectating you, and never the other way around. AOMG Welcomes Sogumm to the Label after her "Signhere" win on MBN

South Korean label AOMG (founded by Jay Park), now has two female artists. AOMG welcomed Sogumm to the team on October 31, after the final episode of Signhere on MBN. The singer took home first place, on the competition show. Her total scores for her performance beating out Meloh, Maddox and MBA. Sogumm joins Hoody, and a crew of popular male artists, as the second woman signed to AOMG. Hoody became the first female artist to sign to the hip-hop and R&B record label back in 2015. NEW MUSIC DROP: South Korean singer Jhnovr - new emotional R&B track - "조금만 더" on repeat

by Nefertiti Jenkins With vocals on a hypnotic percussion beat and lyrics mostly in Korean and some English, R&B/hip-hop singer Jhnovr dropped a mesmerizing track on the Wedaplugg Records YouTube channel on August 29. The Korean title "조금만 더" translates to "Little Bit More" on Google, and we hear the Lowland crew member croon with raw emotions, the question in English, "How do you feel about me?" "All The Stars" from Kendrick Lamar and SZA - A Must Watch

It's just days before the release of the soundtrack for the movie Black Panther, and Kendrick Lamar has dropped the music video for his single with SZA from it, called "All the Stars."  Lamar curated the soundtrack, and before you buy it, (it's out on Friday, Feb. 9), or before you see the film, (which hits theaters on Feb. 16), you have to see the visuals for "All the Stars" on YouTube. It's beautiful and starts off with Lamar, in a boat floating through a sea of people, and then features SZA dancing through a galaxy of stars that held the shape of Africa. We see beautiful children, men in suits, dancing and women with traditional African attire. The entire visual is stunning and powerful, and at one point we actually see Lamar walking through a forest surrounded by black panthers. The music video was directed by Dave Meyers & the little homies. You can check it out below.

Here are some moves and music to get you through the week. Hip-hop/urban dancers, the Quick Style , aka the Quick Crew, in Oslo, Norway, have choreographed and created the Official Dance Video for the track "Jeg Er Lei Meg," a fun hip-hop song by Norwegian artists Karpe Diem, Arif and Unge Ferrari. The song is off their "Mars" EP. The Quick Crew consists of brothers Suleman Malik, Bilal Malik and their childhood friend Nasir Sirikhan. The dance video was uploaded to YouTube on February 3.
