Now Listening To: WOOGIE - "Rewind My Tape, Pt . 2"

Heavy on bass and electric guitars, and khip-hop talent, H1GHR MUSIC producer WOOGIE went big for his second EP, "Rewind My Tape, Pt . 2." The mini-album, with its rock, blues and jazz infusion, dropped on Dec. 16. It features one of his bosses- H1GHR MUSIC co-CEO, Jay Park on two hot tracks. Also featured on the EP are Ugly Duck, pH-1, PUNCHNELLO, Byung Un, Kim Dokyoon and R&B singer and labelmate G.Soul.

G.Soul has been away from the music scene since December 2017, when he enlisted in the South Korean military. The blues track he's featured on, "CALL MY NAME," includes his soulful vocals, and an official music video, focused on a dancer, after a SWAT team is called in.

Rapper Dok2 talks about his personal life and South Korean hip-hop - in English ("Kill Bill") interview with Snacky Chan for "Undergod"

On the March 7th episode of ' Target: Billboard - Kill Bill,' legendary rapper Dok2 brought a number of notable Korean (and Korean-American) rappers out on stage with him to perform his latest song. The show ' Kill Bill'  is an MBC hip-hop survival program which aims to put a South Korean hip-hop artist on the Billboard charts with a collaboration with DJ Khaled. Artists who hit the stage with Dok2 during this episode were Snacky Chan, Changmo, Double K, Deepflow, Los, Young B, Pyunny, Keem Hyo-Eun, Junoflo and Nucksal. After the show, Dok2 and Snacky Chan went backstage to record an interview for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." During their one on one, Dok2 compares hip-hop styles of trap and boom bap. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. Beyoncé drops surprise 'Homecoming' Live Album to go with Netflix Documentary Release

Fans were preparing to stream "Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé" on April 17 on Netflix, when in a surprise move hours after midnight, Beyoncé dropped a new 40-track live album, as a soundtrack to the new documentary. "Homecoming: The Live Album," features music from her 2018 headline performance at Coachella in California. The singer made history during her two-hour set, as the first African-American woman to headline the music festival. The performance included a marching-band tribute to HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities), as well as Black fraternities and sororities, which of course includes stepping. The Netflix documentary shows the live performances and rehearsals, and honors prominent leaders of Black culture. AOMG Welcomes Sogumm to the Label after her "Signhere" win on MBN

South Korean label AOMG (founded by Jay Park), now has two female artists. AOMG welcomed Sogumm to the team on October 31, after the final episode of Signhere on MBN. The singer took home first place, on the competition show. Her total scores for her performance beating out Meloh, Maddox and MBA. Sogumm joins Hoody, and a crew of popular male artists, as the second woman signed to AOMG. Hoody became the first female artist to sign to the hip-hop and R&B record label back in 2015. Fans twerk to BM's #breakyourbackchallenge off his new track "OO YEAH aka YOURFAVORITETWERKSONG"

The latest song to get you twerking, comes from Korean-American rapper  BM (of KARD). Big Mattheww uploaded his self-produced track "OO YEAH aka YOURFAVORITETWERKSONG," to SoundCloud on January 30th. On January 31st, after dancing to the song himself on  V LIVE, BM issued the challenge saying in a tweet , that everyone on V LIVE told him to start it. Since then, he's gotten dozens of responses from fans on Twitter, including a video he posted to Instagram, of three young ladies twerking around an apartment/home, to his song.  View this post on Instagram i had to post this.. Now Listening To: Tyla's - "Water" - The single that's now at the Top of Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart

South African singer-songwriter Tyla is one of the hottest rising stars of 2023. She's currently taking over social media with her TikTok viral dance challenge from her latest single- “Water.” The song hit streaming sites in July. The official music video arrived on YouTube on October 6. It's currently (as of this writing) trending #26 on the site with nearly 13 million views.  According to Billboard, “Water” has also climbed to #1 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart, dated Oct. 21-- stopping the record 58-week streak from Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” which had led the list since Sept. 10, 2022. “Water” marks Tyla's first top spot on any Billboard chart.  The 21-year-old Johannesburg native debuted with her first music video: "Getting Late," featuring Kooldrink in 2021. Rapper Jessi and Jay Park "Drip" with Swag in New Music & MV

Rapper Jessi is back with another single under P NATION (the South Korean record label founded by Psy). This time around, Jessi has global star Jay Park on the track and visual. Jessi released their collaboration - "Drip" on November 1st, and straight out the gate, she comes out swinging with swag, and singing, that she's not "going anywhere." Park joins her midway in-- getting his brag on-- with a smooth flow about his "legacy." Check out the new music and video below.

Jitomo and Lil Cherry leave WEDAPLUGG RECORDS

Just a month after the release of her video "Mona Lisa," featuring Jito Mo, for Wedaplugg Records-- trap artist Lil Cherry and fellow artist Jitomo, are now both out from the label. We Da Plugg Records, run by South Korean rappers Giriboy and Swings, announced the departure on social media on Nov. 16. Artists who are still with the label are: Jhnovr, YUNHWAY and producer sAewoo. This is an announcement from We Da Plugg. Jitomo and Lil Cherry will no longer be a part of the label. Although we were disconcerted from the sudden news, both had reasons to leave and we send them in peace. Nevertheless, the agenda for We Da Plugg will not change. We sincerely thank our fans and supporters.

Tiger JK's music video for new single "POV" includes Yoon Mi-rae's song "Peach"

South Korean legendary rapper Tiger JK includes his wife Yoon Mi-rae's song "Peach" as part of an intermission during his cinematic-video for his new single "POV," which hit streaming sites and YouTube on August 9th. "Peach" is off Yoon Mi-rae (a.k.a. Tasha)'s 2018 album-- "Gemini 2." Tiger JK includes the song in his "POV" visual around half-way in, with a pole dancer. But before and after the break in the video, the rapper is an action star on the run.  Of the song "POV" itself, Tiger JK tweeted on the day of its release; " The first time I made love with soul music.
