"Girls Trip" A Must See In Theaters

Get ready for a good laugh. The raunchy adventure "Girls Trip" opened in movie theaters nationwide on Friday, July 21. It's the story of four friends from college, who re-unite for a wild ride in New Orleans, during the Essence Music Festival. It stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish. Haddish's performance will have you in tears, with her lines and facial expressions. She plays the girlfriend most of us had back in high school and college, who was loud, not afraid to speak her mind, and who always had your back.

For anyone who came of age during the 90s, this film is a throwback to the good times of clubbing, hanging out with your girls, and dancing and jamming to good music. We're reminded of the history Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith have from the 1996 hit film "Set It Off." We get a "Love Jones" vibe, with the appearance in "Girls Trip" by Larenz Tate, as the musician Julian. And we see a whole bunch of familiar faces, including Mariah Carey, Ne-Yo, Morris Chestnut and P.Diddy. The movie will definitely take you on a walk down memory lane. But the plot wasn't about all the big name appearances. It was about friendship, and the strength that comes with being a woman.

Essence Magazine had this to say about the film;
With the exception of Girlfriends, Waiting to Exhale and Living Single, rarely are friendships between Black women front and center in pop culture, especially in comedy. The friendship at the center of the film feels genuine. You’ll recognize your own group of friends in various scenes, even in the small moments of the film.

If you haven't seen it yet, you should make plans to see it right away. In its opening weekend, it took second place at the box office, bringing in $31.2 million in its first three days, making it the biggest opening weekend for any live-action comedy this year.

When you see it, you're going to love "Girls Trip," and the entire cast. And although you may not be familiar with comedian Tiffany Haddish, she's fast on her way to becoming a household name. She's funny, really funny. On the big screen and off. Recently during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, she told the story of how she got Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith to go on a public Groupon swamp tour with her. You have to hear Haddish tell how it went down...

Want to see more of Haddish, she's also on tour!
