NEW NAME FOR BTS MEMBER (formerly Rap Monster)

The leader of the super popular kpop group BTS, from South Korea, has officially changed his name. Kim Nam-joon previously known as Rap Monster, has changed his stage name to RM. The announcement was published on the BTS official fan cafe on November 13. New Music: A.CHAL - "Numb The Pain"

Peruvian-American singer A.CHAL (Alejandro Chal Salazar) is working through his emotions in his new single "Numb The Pain". The artist dropped his new song and the official music video for it on October 13. On social media A.CHAL says the visual was shot in Huanchaco, Trujillo, Peru. He says as a child he remembers living there on the sand in a small hut. The singer says the song itself was recorded in Paris. Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). CONCERT WATCH: BTS World Tour - "Love Yourself "

Fans in love with BTS will get to see the kpop group live in concert in 2018. Big Hit Entertainment, the company for the South Korean boy band, announced on April 26, that the seven member group will be kicking off a "Love Yourself" World Tour on August 25th in Seoul. BTS will then perform in Los Angeles, CA on September 5, 6 & 8, followed by stops in Oakland, CA, Fort Worth, TX, Hamilton, Ontario, Newark, NJ, Chicago, IL, London, England, Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Berlin, Germany, and Paris, France. A video teaser for the tour has been uploaded on the Big Hit YouTube channel , and more dates are expected to be announced. Powerhouse Live, a tour management company, has posted on social media that ticket information for the BTS World Tour will be released on April 27, at 7 a.m. (PDT). New Video Drop: JINBO Releases "So To Speak" MV featuring Crush and Hoody in honor of South Korean artist who died a "suspicious death"

by Nefertiti Jenkins Korean R&B singer JINBO has dropped the video for his collaboration work with R&B singers Crush and Hoody. The mv for "So To Speak" was released on August 14 on YouTube. The track honors with a cover, a hip-hop icon (or first generation kpop idol) in South Korea, who died a suspicious death on November 20, 1995. Rapper/Singer Kim SungJae was a member of the '90s duo DEUX, and died after his solo debut performance on SBS. According to online reports, the 23-year-old went to a hotel after the performance with his girlfriend and crew, but was found dead the next day at the hotel with 28 needle marks on him. An autopsy found traces of an animal anesthetic, or animal stimulant in his body. According to online reports, his girlfriend was arrested for the alleged murder of Kim and was sentenced, but was acquitted due to the "lack of evidence." The case is considered an unsolved mystery. South Korean artist Coogie dropped his new single "1,2,3,4,5" on January 23, 2025--the same day record label AOMG announced its exclusive contract with the rapper had come to an end. Coogie signed with AOMG in 2022. He was previously signed under hip-hop label ATMseoul.
