South Korean R&B singer Crush dropped his double single "NAPPA" with a visual on August 28 under P NATION. The standout on the release is the soulful second track "Lookin 4," featuring Devin Morrison and the sultry Joyce Wrice. Check out the new music below.

Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). NEW NAME FOR BTS MEMBER (formerly Rap Monster)

The leader of the super popular kpop group BTS, from South Korea, has officially changed his name. Kim Nam-joon previously known as Rap Monster, has changed his stage name to RM. The announcement was published on the BTS official fan cafe on November 13.  RM wrote on it, that although he's been called Rap Monster for the past five years, he felt the need to change it, because that title was   getting more and more distant from the music done for the past 5 years.                                                                    -RM (via allkpop)    Back on September 19, 2017, Rap Monster announced on his Beats1Noisey Interview that he would be changing his name to RM. This year was different: 2023 Lexington, KY Roots & Heritage Festival Parade, Band Performances & Fashion Show

Showcasing Kentucky's African American culture and traditions, the 2023 Lexington, KY Roots & Heritage Festival kicked off Friday night, September 8, with live performances on the main stage on Elm Tree Lane.  It continued Saturday morning with the annual parade and band performances. It included Simmons College (an HBCU) and Central High School marching bands from Louisville.  The "Battle of the Bands" after the parade was moved from the corner of Fourth street and Elm Tree Lane to Third Street and Elm Tree Lane, near the historic Lyric Theatre. New this year, a fashion show outside the theater. The show included pieces from up-and-coming local designers. The festival wrapped on Sunday, September 10. Thousands of people attended the weekend event.

AOMG Welcomes Sogumm to the Label after her "Signhere" win on MBN

South Korean label AOMG (founded by Jay Park), now has two female artists. AOMG welcomed Sogumm to the team on October 31, after the final episode of Signhere on MBN. The singer took home first place, on the competition show. Her total scores for her performance beating out Meloh, Maddox and MBA. Sogumm joins Hoody, and a crew of popular male artists, as the second woman signed to AOMG. Hoody became the first female artist to sign to the hip-hop and R&B record label back in 2015. Song of the Day: Jay Park - "Whenever"

Jay Park dropped his R&B single "Whenever" one year ago, on July 23, 2025.  Crooning "call me whenever" in an English and Japanese version.  The Japanese version includes a passionate live clip on YouTube from part one of his Serenades & Body Rolls tour last year in Japan. Since then, Park has announced part two for 2026 , which includes his More Vision South Korean boy band LNGSHOT.  This second leg of the tour kicks off on September 3 in São Paulo, Brazil with stops in Mexico, North America and Europe. No word if he'll perform this song, but for now, Jay Park's "Whenever" is today's Song of the Day.

CEOs Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone Promote H1GHR MUSIC 'SXSW' Showcase (UPDATE - New Promo Video)

For fans who get to go, they are in for what's looking to be a really great hip-hop show. On March 5, CEOs of H1GHR MUSIC, Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone, posted a flyer on their social media accounts, of their label's showcase at SXSW (South by Southwest).  The showcase is happening on March 17, at 8 p.m. at The Main on E. 6th St. in Austin, TX. The two music trailblazers will co-host the special event. The lineup includes artists Phe Reds, Jarv Dee, Avatar Darko, pH-1, Ted Park, Raz Simone, DJ Pumkin and DJ Rocryte. Junoflo (from Feel Ghood Music) is listed as a special performer for the H1GHR MUSIC showcase (and according to the flyer, Jay Park will also have a special performance during that event). DAVII Drops Eclectic New Album - "GENEZIS3"

South Korean musician DAVII dropped his fourth mini-album "GENEZIS3" on August 3rd. The project includes an eclectic infusion of jazz and hip-hop.  The six-track EP hit streaming sites with an official music video for the song "Flying" showing DAVII on keys with smooth vocals. The track also features H1GHR MUSIC artist BIG Naughty.  Other artists lending an assist include Owen, Holland, Q the Trumpet and Jang Jisou. Check it out below.

New Music: South Korean R&B singer MELOH returns with Self-titled EP

Fans have been watching for South Korean singer MELOH ever since he hit the stage for AOMG's Signhere  audition TV show program in 2019 on MBN. While he didn't finish first, he did make it to the finals with his smooth vocals.  Fast forward to 2021, and MELOH is back with his first EP, titled "MELOH," and signed to the new hip-hop label-- Daytona Entertainment, founded by The Quiett and Yumdda. MELOH's new self-titled R&B mini-album hit streaming sites on January 2. South African singer-songwriter Tyla is one of the hottest rising stars of 2023. She's currently taking over social media with her TikTok viral dance challenge from her latest single- “Water.” The song hit streaming sites in July. The official music video arrived on YouTube on October 6. It's currently (as of this writing) trending #26 on the site with nearly 13 million views.  According to Billboard, “Water” has also climbed to #1 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart, dated Oct. 21-- stopping the record 58-week streak from Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” which had led the list since Sept. 10, 2022. “Water” marks Tyla's first top spot on any Billboard chart.  The 21-year-old Johannesburg native debuted with her first music video: "Getting Late," featuring Kooldrink in 2021. The LP dropped on May 18, along with a visual for a track from it, "Fake Love," which racked up more than 10 million views just hours after it was uploaded on YouTube. "Love Yourself: Tear" is the third full studio album for BTS, and follows last year's "Love Yourself: Her" EP, which according to Billboard Magazine, put the group at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. BTS talked about the new album recently in an interview with Billboard .
