South Korean rapper Coogie drops new single as contract with AOMG expires

South Korean artist Coogie dropped his new single "1,2,3,4,5" on January 23, 2025--the same day record label AOMG announced its exclusive contract with the rapper had come to an end. Coogie signed with AOMG in 2022. 

He was previously signed under hip-hop label ATMseoul. He became known for his sing-song melodic rap style after participating in the South Korean rap competition series Show Me The Money 777 in 2018. 

The translation to AOMG's post on X reads...

"Hello, this is AOMG. We would like to inform you that Coogie's exclusive contract has ended on January 23, 2025. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have shown much support and interest in Coogie and his wonderful activities that have made AOMG shine for a long time. AOMG promises to sincerely support Coogie's new challenges and activities in the future, and we ask fans to continue to show their warm interest and encouragement for his new journey. thank you."

The translated lyrics for Coogie's new song "1,2,3,4,5" include...

"12345 new pieces. I can bring you anything you need. Brand names that are hard to pronounce. I left them at your door right now. Every sec she's in my head. I don't need to say much more. Just stay right here by my side. Just call me baby."

Rapper Dok2 talks about working with Jay Park and G-Dragon (from BIGBANG) in Ep. 31 of "Fun With Dumb"

Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). CONCERT WATCH: Bruno Mars Adds New Opening Acts to '24K Magic World Tour' - Ella Mai, Ciara, Boyz II Men and Charlie Wilson

In a hilarious photoshopped Instagram video post on August 14, funk singer Bruno Mars announced a lineup of special guests to replace Cardi B on the final leg of the  24K Magic World Tour.  The decision to add the four new acts comes after Cardi B dropped out of the tour in late July after giving birth to her daughter. Hitting the stage at various points during the U.S. stops, will be Ciara, Ella Mai, Boyz II Men and Charlie Wilson. Each will perform as openers for a number of shows, beginning with Boyz II Men in Denver, Colorado on September 7th. The 24K Magic World Tour  began in early 2017, and will end in November (2018) with three homecoming shows in Hawaii. More information can be found on the  Bruno Mars website. New Music and Video Drop: CHANGMO - "DNSG" Mixtape Album - with a MV for The Track - "Holy God"

by Nefertiti Jenkins The latest mixtape from Korean hip-hop artist Changmo, includes nine tracks, with a visual for its fifth track "Holy God."  The "underground rockstar" rapper is from Ambition Musik (of Illionaire Records), and released "DNSG," on June 11.  The "Intro" kicks off his album, with instrumentals. The third track, "Touch," was pre-released a week earlier on SoundCloud . A lot of people are talking about the fifth track, "Holy God," and the music video for it (which currently does not have subtitles). Rapped in Korean, the mv is laden with religious symbolism, explicit images of women, and has a cameo appearance from Illionaire Records co-founder, The Quiett. NEW VIDEO DROP: Ted Park - "Hands In The Air" featuring Jay Park

The official music video for Ted Park's "Hands In The Air," featuring Jay Park is now out. The video was released on April 26, on the YouTube channel for The Cut. It's colorful, and has the H1GHR MUSIC artist singing and dancing throughout to melodic hip-hop/R&B beats, and later in the video shows label co-CEO Jay Park, singing on his verse, about a good time with a lady, which includes a bottle of soju. The song itself is the first collaboration for Ted Park and Jay Park. Ted Park says "Hands In The Air" is the second single off his upcoming debut EP, "Plugged In." The first single off the album is called "Broke." It was released on April 16. According to The Cut studio, which directed the music video, "Hands In The Air" is "anticipated to be the summer anthem of 2018." It was produced by DJ Pain 1 and DJ Stacktrace. R&B Singer RINI drops Seductive Visual for track "Aphrodite"

R&B singer RINI leaves fans thirsting for more, in his new sexy music video for his song "Aphrodite." The visual hit YouTube on March 25. The track is off his 2018 "After the Sun" EP. RINI (Justerini Sandoval) is from Melbourne, Australia. In his new visual, a woman in black dances seductively, as RINI lusts after her, while crooning melodic poetry about his desires. Representing KHip-Hop at The NBA Buzzer Beat Festival in Seoul

Korean Hip-Hop or khip-hop, is hot right now. There are a lot of talented artists making some good music in South Korea at the moment. This is not kpop. This is music, from artists whose albums could play on urban radio, if they were promoting here in the United States. On July 8, 2017, INLet'sGo! got a chance to check out some of those who are making moves, and making people move. Hip-hop and R&B singers, rappers, and dancers hit two main stages at the NBA Buzzer Beat Festival at KBS Arena in Seoul, South Korea. Unfortunately, INLet'sGo! was not able to record all of the performances, but here's highlights from stage one, which includes Punchnello, OffOnOff, DPR Live, Dean, Bumzu, Horim, Niihwa, Suran, Heize and Jay Park.

Drake Praises Dumbfoundead in "Bad Rap" (Now on Netflix)

Before artist and battle rapper Dumbfoundead released his hot "We Might Die" album, or dropped the popular music videos for the tracks 'SAFE' and 'Harambe,' and the catchy but freaky visual for 'Water,' Dumbfoundead was sitting down with producer and director Salima Koroma and co-producer Jaeki Cho for a documentary with three of his friends called "Bad Rap." It premiered last year at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, but was just recently uploaded on Netflix. The documentary walks us through the journey he and fellow Asian-American artists Awkwafina, Lyricks and Rekstizzy were on, to break into the larger American hip-hop scene, as they navigated through the waters of culture appropriation (from the African-American community) and originality. Dumbfoundead has been known for his battle rap skills for a long time. In the film we get to re-experience his epic comeback battle (after a break) against Conceited (from Wild 'n Out)...

Song of The Day: SHAUN - "Thinking Of" - feat. OVAN & SUMIN

  Looking for a new summer jam? Check out DJ SHAUN's electric dance track, "Thinking Of" featuring rapper OVAN and singer SUMIN. The single is the title track off his first solo mini album, "TAKE." The vocal EDM artist is known for his skill with synthesizers, and is a member of the South Korean indie rock band, The KOXX (which formed in 2009). SHAUN's EP dropped on June 27, along with a music video for "Thinking Of (생각나)." The mv features two beautiful women enjoying themselves at the beach and elsewhere, and also includes OVAN on the mic. New Music & MV: Gaho - "Preparation For a Journey" - his first mini-album

South Korean singer Gaho has dropped his debut EP. "Preparation For a Journey" hit streaming sites on Dec. 11, along with an official music video for its title track of the same name. The AlphaDict crew member from the label Planetarium Records, has five tracks on his mini-album, which range from ballads to pop R&B. Labelmate Villain features on the fourth track "Then."
