South African singer-songwriter Tyla is one of the hottest rising stars of 2023. She's currently taking over social media with her TikTok viral dance challenge from her latest single- “Water.” The song hit streaming sites in July. The official music video arrived on YouTube on October 6. It's currently (as of this writing) trending #26 on the site with nearly 13 million views. According to Billboard, “Water” has also climbed to #1 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart, dated Oct. 21-- stopping the record 58-week streak from Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” which had led the list since Sept. 10, 2022. “Water” marks Tyla's first top spot on any Billboard chart. Avatar Darko Officially Signs With H1GHR MUSIC

Seattle Rapper Avatar Darko, has officially signed with hip-hop label H1GHR MUSIC. The CEOs, Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone, posted the official video on June 5th, to social media of Avatar signing the contract, and receiving his H1GHR MUSIC gold chain. The new signee is fresh off a U.S. tour with his H1GHR MUSIC labelmates (which wrapped on May 8th in Seattle). He also hit the stage with them back in March, for South by Southwest. NEW VIDEO DROP: "Hocus Pocus" New Fun MV from Planetarium Records / PLT

They dropped the digital track on May 12th, and on Thursday, May 17th, the boys from Planetarium Records released their colorful visual for "Hocus Pocus." Bruno Mars shares Behind the Scenes clip from the Making of "24K Magic"

Bruno Mars has shared a never before seen clip of the making of "24K Magic," the title track and lead single from his third studio album (of the same name). On June 27, the singer uploaded video on Twitter and Instagram, and wrote that he found it in his cell phone. The video shows producer Brody Brown and Mars trying to figure out the groove for "24k Magic" in 2015. According to Bruno Mars, they tried nearly 100 different patterns and pockets to finally land what we hear today (a Zapp & Roger inspired track). On April 25, legendary rapper DOK2 returned with a visual for his new song "CULTURE." The music video directed by Erik White, dropped under Last King Group, with a link to the rapper's new merch line and a billboard in Los Angeles. The single follows the drop of the collab track "Chandeliers," with Styliztik Jones back in February. Song of The Day: NIKI - "SUGARPLUM ELEGY"

A bittersweet Christmas love song, because sometimes, it's just the end of the road. Singer NIKI first uploaded her "SUGARPLUM ELEGY" track to her YouTube channel on December 12. The label she's signed to, 88rising, uploaded the audio to its YouTube channel on December 23. Written and produced by NIKI, she says the song came out of nowhere, and she wrote and self-produced it in her bedroom, during a time where she felt "cold and clogged, in every sense." Her raspy vocals on the track capture a time of finality and sorrow... Great was our love, it was one for the books/ We gave it the best that we could/ but I won’t recite all my lines just to watch you and I...lie/ I’m so proud I got to love you once. R&B singers Hoody & Crush fall for each other in new music and MV "Sunshine"

A little "Sunshine" to warm up the autumn cool. AOMG singer Hoody released her latest single and an official music video to go with it, on October 22nd. Produced by Cha Cha Malone, the song "Sunshine," featuring Crush (from Amoeba Culture) is about the warmth that comes with love. The collaboration between the South Korean R&B singers, has a twist in the music video. In the visual, the two are next-door neighbors who are frustrated by each other, to the point of destruction, until a surprise cameo by AOMG's rapper Simon Dominic, who brings them together.
