South African singer-songwriter Tyla is one of the hottest rising stars of 2023. She's currently taking over social media with her TikTok viral dance challenge from her latest single- “Water.” The song hit streaming sites in July. The official music video arrived on YouTube on October 6. It's currently (as of this writing) trending #26 on the site with nearly 13 million views.  According to Billboard, “Water” has also climbed to #1 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart, dated Oct. 21-- stopping the record 58-week streak from Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” which had led the list since Sept. 10, 2022. “Water” marks Tyla's first top spot on any Billboard chart.  The 21-year-old Johannesburg native debuted with her first music video: "Getting Late," featuring Kooldrink in 2021. The latest label collaboration for H1GHR MUSIC is due out on July 30th. The title of the song is "WATER." It features label co-CEO Jay Park, as well as his artists pH-1, Sik-K, Woodie Gochild and Haon. To build hype for it, the rappers have been taunting each other with braggadocious disses on social media about who has the best verse on the track. On July 26, pH-1 tweeted on twitter and captioned on Instagram, along with video with his dog Holly listening to the song, saying "so Holly the critic tells me that my verse on this unreleased H1GHR track was the coldest... you be the judge on 07/30."
