This year was different: 2023 Lexington, KY Roots & Heritage Festival Parade, Band Performances & Fashion Show

Showcasing Kentucky's African American culture and traditions, the 2023 Lexington, KY Roots & Heritage Festival kicked off Friday night, September 8, with live performances on the main stage on Elm Tree Lane.  It continued Saturday morning with the annual parade and band performances. It included Simmons College (an HBCU) and Central High School marching bands from Louisville.  The "Battle of the Bands" after the parade was moved from the corner of Fourth street and Elm Tree Lane to Third Street and Elm Tree Lane, near the historic Lyric Theatre. New this year, a fashion show outside the theater. The show included pieces from up-and-coming local designers. The festival wrapped on Sunday, September 10. Thousands of people attended the weekend event.

A must see in the Southeast: Lexington's Roots and Heritage Festival returns after a two-year hiatus

From delicious foods and marching bands, to an appearance from members of the University of Kentucky women's basketball team, the City of Lexington, KY saw the return of its annual Roots and Heritage Festival the weekend of September 9th-11th.  The festival was voted as one of the "Top Twenty Events in the Southeast" by the Southeast Tourism Society, according to organizers, and it's been going strong for more than 30 years. The event had been put on hold for two years because of the coronavirus pandemic. The festival this year, included nightly live music performances, its iconic Saturday parade and plenty of food and clothing vendors. The annual event celebrates Lexington's rich diversity, traditions, African-American culture and community spirit.  The festival also showcases the rich talent from Louisville's Central High School Marching band, which has been making a parade appearance for years. NEW MUSIC DROP: Remix Audio - Khalid & Normani - "Love Lies" ft. Rick Ross

The new version features rapper Rick Ross. "Love Lies" was first released earlier this year, as a single on the "Love, Simon" movie soundtrack. In February, the pair dropped a sexy music video for their collaboration. And in May, performed a mesmerizing number of the song, on the Billboard Music Awards . Getting Tickets (Before It's Too Late) for - San E & Mad Clown - "We Want You Tour"

Tickets are on sale, for the San E and Mad Clown We Want You 2018 Tour . As we have previously reported , the khip-hop artists will be in the U.S. in April, with singer Sobae and DJ Juice. San E and Mad Clown, who now live in South Korea, have both previously lived in the U.S. and are returning to their old stomping grounds. According to White Mountain Agency , the tour kicks off on April 5, in Atlanta, and then stops in New York, Washington, D.C., Cleveland, OH and numerous other cities. Tickets are available on the White Mountain Agency site. Kamoflage Entertainment is one of the organizations working with White Mountain Agency to bring the rappers to the States. According to Kamo, the entertainment group, will be hosting the concert stops for San E and Mad Clown in Boston, Dallas, and Chicago.
