Rapper DOK2 is back with a new 16-track project. The artist dropped his "Trust Me I Know Everything You Think I Don't" Mixtape on January 31.  DOK2 is known for his contributions to the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. In 2011, the rapper co-founded (with rapper The Quiett) the legendary now-defunct Illionaire Records and later, in 2016--the still active label-- Ambition Musik. DOK2 has since stepped down from his role as co-CEO of the labels and has left the company. Meanwhile, The Quiett dropped the final project for Illionaire Records on November 11, 2020.  Now DOK2 is back with 808 HI Recordings, with his first album since leaving Illionaire Records. He dropped a behind the scenes visual on YouTube on January 29, for the song "Stars and Moon" from the mixtape. Check out the new music below.

On April 25, legendary rapper DOK2 returned with a visual for his new song "CULTURE." The music video directed by Erik White, dropped under Last King Group, with a link to the rapper's new merch line and a billboard in Los Angeles. The single follows the drop of the  collab track "Chandeliers," with Styliztik Jones back in February.  On his new song, the co-founder of the now defunct South Korean label Illionaire Records, raps "nobody handed me a silver spoon." Ahead of the March 5th release of his album "EVERYBODY EAT” with producer Dirty Diggs, California rapper Styliztik Jones dropped a new single --"Chandeliers," featuring South Korean rapper Dok2.  The new music hit streaming sites on February 16. A visual for the song hit social media in January. Dok2 had been out of the public eye, since last February, after leaving the label he co-founded-- 1LLIONAIRE RECORDS. After a nearly decade run, the record company shutdown officially in November of 2020.  In the collaboration with Jones, Dok2 raps... "My wave is coming/ The 808 drumming/ My pain away numbing /Just meditate f*** it/ Don't hesitate running / Evaporate the past, nobody's perfect/ Let's redecorate the last." Another big project drop from South Korean producer DJ SOMDEF. The beat maker released his 9-track album - "MorningMare" with a visual on December 13th. It features some of South Korea's top rappers including Kid Milli, JUSTHIS, Paloalto, GIRIBOY, ODEE, Sokodomo, CHANGMO, Tommy Strate, Dok2 and Double K. Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is going on tour. The rapper announced on July 29, that he'll be hitting cities in Canada and Europe beginning Sunday, September 1st for his "Thunderground" World Tour. Tickets will be available on Monday, August 5th at 3 P.M. Previously Green Wave Records' Double K was a feature on Illionaire rapper DOK2's latest track - "So Far So Good" with Ann One. That single dropped on May 24. Now the trio is back with a new song, and this one belongs to Double K with Ann One and Dok2 hopping on board. The three are feeling "BLUE" with a Latin vibe, and have Los Angeles artist DEEN on Spanish vocals. Check out the track below. It hit streaming sites on June 5th. Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 is a pioneer in the South Korean hip-hop industry, but he rarely gives interviews. Lucky for fans, the rapper sat down on two separate occasions recently to talk about his life and the rise of hip-hop in South Korea. The first interview was for the March 7th face to face with rapper Snacky Chan for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod."   The second was for American rapper Dumbfoundead's March 20th (ep. 31) podcast of "Fun With Dumb." During the podcast, Dok2 provided a mini-history lesson for anyone interested in South Korean hip-hop. Beginning with his early rise, the rapper says he's been making moves in the industry since 2002 when he was 12-years-old. He told Dumbfoundead that he used to attend a school for foreigners in Busan (because of his mixed Korean, Spanish and Filipino heritage), but after 6th grade he moved to Seoul and did not return back to school (due to family financial reasons). On the March 7th episode of ' Target: Billboard - Kill Bill,' legendary rapper Dok2 brought a number of notable Korean (and Korean-American) rappers out on stage with him to perform his latest song. The show ' Kill Bill'  is an MBC hip-hop survival program which aims to put a South Korean hip-hop artist on the Billboard charts with a collaboration with DJ Khaled. Artists who hit the stage with Dok2 during this episode were Snacky Chan, Changmo, Double K, Deepflow, Los, Young B, Pyunny, Keem Hyo-Eun, Junoflo and Nucksal. After the show, Dok2 and Snacky Chan went backstage to record an interview for Chan's YouTube series - "Undergod." During their one on one, Dok2 compares hip-hop styles of trap and boom bap. Delivering that West Coast flavor with Korean verses, California rapper Los, dropped the visual on February 26, for his g-funk style single "HUSTLE," featuring South Korean rapper and Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2. Cruising in a classic Chevrolet Impala SS-- the two artists show how it's done from their side of town in Los Angeles. The track for "HUSTLE" was actually released on streaming sites under WESTUP RECORDS on January 21. Check out the new official music video for it below.

On March 28, for his 28th birthday, Dok2 from Illionaire Records dropped two new tracks, "1LLOGIC" featuring R&B singer Chancellor, and "Straight Up" featuring DJ Wegun from AOMG and Keem Hyo-Eun (from Dok2's sub-label, Ambition). Both songs from the double release are really good.  The music is available now on Google Play, Spotify and iTunes. "1LLOGIC" is today's Song of The Day. It begins with vocals from Chancellor sounding like Usher.  Chancellor sings in English and Korean, and Dok2 gives us melodic rap, also in English and Korean. There's a lot of good music dropping soon for khip-hop fans.  Some of our favorite artists from Korea have releases coming out the week of March 11, and hip-hop mogul Jay Park features on a few of the tracks. Monday, March 12 -First up, is rapper Maniac. He's dropping music on March 12, titled "Money Makerz, " featuring Jessi and Jay Park. The teaser for it was uploaded on March 8. Tuesday, March 13 -Hip-hop artist Junoflo (from Feel Ghood Music) drops his EP, "Only Human," on Tuesday, March 13. On the same day, the visual for the track "Grapevine" from the album, featuring Jay Park, will also be released. The track was released back in 2017, but on Jan. 29, 2018, The Quiett, and Dok2 (CEOs) from hip-hip label, Illionaire Records, along with the crew from Ambition (their sub label), dropped the official music video for "No Switchin' Sides".  This comes just days after their 7th anniversary concert, which was held on Jan. 27 in South Korea, and also a day after celebrating The Quiett's birthday. The song "No Switchin' Sides," was first introduced on Illionaire Day, on Nov. 11 at 11:11 p.m. (KST) on SoundCloud and YouTube.
